As Mayor of Oakville, Gordon will Negotiate Non-Stop until an all-around, combined, Agreement is made with all parties concerned on many of the issues surrounding our great Town, such as Residential, Commercial and Industrial Development, Roads, and Infrastructure, and Land Use.

Gordon knows how to Negotiate not Dictate! He has the INSIDE knowledge of how Developers think and feel as Gordon worked for many of the Key Builders for 27 years. There is no need to have to FIGHT them at OMB Hearings year after year.

Just some of Gordon's idea's are underground hydro for all new subdivisions, top-covered recycling bins, heated major roadways to avoid the yearly expansion/contraction, replacing cut down trees with more mature trees rather than saplings, Municipal Childcare Spaces, elimination of homeowner snow Windrows, picking up all the garbage in all our land areas every month, being more respectful towards Oakville citizens and addressing them and their concerns with intent towards solving issues rather than spinning issues, making local environmental issues profitable towards local and outside businesses, dealing with global climate change in terms of preparing for the inevitable weather extremes that will affect our Town in terms of building everything to support natural disasters.

Is this the way to treat Oakville Residents?

Change! We need it!

"It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change." ~ Darwin

In other words...No more single minded, ONE ISSUE Mayor, we need to be able to adapt with the changes that are occurring daily, weekly, monthly and of course yearly.

I offer that Controlled, BALANCED Change.

Congratulations to for his re-election tonight, I hope his fight for is successful, time will tell. Many thanks to all the residents who voted for me! Democracy in action.

Hi Allan,

Just a sincere congratulations on your re-election tonight. If possible, I would still like to work with you on environmental issues for our ward to keep ahead of the climate change extreme weather. I hope that in four years time, Glen Abbey is still there, I still have my doubts. Now that all the political "stuff" is out of the way, I can only say happy re-election to you and lets keep our ward and town safe and secure. It was nice having the debate with you. Enjoy your time as Councillor again!

Kind regards,

Gordon Brennan

(E-mail sent to Allan after the votes were posted on the Town's website. His reply is below.)

When you scroll down this website, you will see and read about many issues that I brought forward from as far back as 2014 that are SADLY STILL RELEVANT TODAY in 2018! So many problems that existed 4 years ago when I ran for Mayor have not been dealt with or have simply been ignored. As Town & Regional Councillor, I will solve those issues by working day & night with all stakeholders to overcome the problems and complexities and bring forth immediate actions. We all live in a wonderful Town called Oakville, there is no denying that, however, I am NOT running a "Fluff-Campaign" that keeps on saying, everything is great, everything is good, just go about your daily living and do not concern yourself with our municipal government. My job is to inform and educate our citizens as much as possible with the facts. Then offer non-political actions and solutions. As Councillor, its my job to SERVE our ward residents 7 days a week, 24/7 and actually CARE about what happens NOT ONLY in my home ward but within the Mayors Office and with the other Councillors. The next four years are just too important to carry forward with the attitude of, "Don't Worry be Happy," there are many hidden concerns that require open and transparent discussion and plans of action.

THANK YOU! To the over 6000 people who visited this website in the past 2 1/2 months, very much appreciated! I realize there is a lot of "stuff" on here, but there is so much to inform you about. Thank you to the thousands of people who also engaged my Twitter account, its difficult sometimes to keep everything down to 140 characters but in essence that limitation does help get the points across fast and efficiently for you to know what is going on!

A vote for Gordon Brennan today is a vote for CHANGE. Plain and simple. A vote for me today from you means that you wish to see new and exciting changes happening in our Ward and at Town Hall and within Council Chambers.

A vote for Gordon Brennan means...

Frozen property tax increases for three years, with a 10% reduction in the fourth year.

Secured Internet Voting with ranked ballots.

Opting into the cannabis stores but keeping in mind that changes can and do occur. No stores near schools, or Childcare centres, parks or recreation centres.

Fully Electric Transit Buses for Ward 4 that run every five minutes between stops.

Electric car charging stations for Ward 4

Immediate Task Force with local experts from environmentalists, climate change experts, construction company experts, hydro experts, to Bury all our above ground on poles hydro lines for Ward 4, (no more brown/black outs!) to begin immediate sewer upgrades to handle higher volumes of water, to install heaters in all our major roads and sidewalks, NO more rock salt needed, (no more breathing in the clouds of salt dust and continued salination of our creeks and rivers,)

All winter snow windrows will be cleared for everyone

Soil erosion prevention in all our creeks to prevent sinkholes

Build bridges that can withstand extreme weather

Secure lids on all our recycling and compost bins

Elimination of all in-camera meetings with Lawyers and Councillors at Town Hall

An immediate task force to help revive our slumping Tourist Industry

Elimination of all Hospital parking fees.

I will sign an unconditional written guarantee to never allow the sell-off of part or all of Oakville Hydro to private investors.

Elimination of the diesel smokestacks on top of the new Oakville Hospital and replaced with Natural Gas.

To bring back the 2007 removed Outside Independent Auditor General and complete an immediate line by line review of all of Oakville’s operating costs and revenues along with reviewing its long- & short-term debt both operating and capital spending debts.

To bring about a CONSERVATIVE budget that saves tax dollars, freezes property tax increases for three years with the forth year a 10% decrease.

To bring about a Municipal Land Transfer REBATE (Never a new MLTT) for 1st time buyers up to $50,000 for new homes and for re-sale homes 25 years old or less

Elimination of all “Performance Based” budgets and inclusion of zero balanced based budgets, (millions saved here with no job losses)

Motion for the creation of a Municipal tax-free savings account up to $10,000 per year with a guaranteed 5% interest payable on all deposits, the money to be used for a local college or university tuition or for homeowners to pay down their mortgage principal

All Ward 4 Recreation Centres Staff will no longer have to pay for their own uniforms and lifeguards will no longer have to pay for the lessons to become Instructors

Immediately return the removed Ethics Commissioner and no more Council Pre-Screening any public complaints.

An immediate business tax reduction of 10% for Ward 4 small and medium sized businesses and to format a committee of business owners to identify and eliminate all red-tape municipal regulations that impede or unnecessarily bog down Ward 4 businesses.

And MOST IMPORTANT...This Election is NOT only about the Glen Abbey Golf Course as Allan Elgar told John McLaughlin on his front porch, this Election IS ABOUT YOU.

The Famous, or Infamous, deciding on who you talk to, VICTOR REPORT...READ these documents about Glen Abbey Golf Course and YOU BE THE JUDGE!

Read this important letter to Mayor Burton and notice the KEY WORDS of "Cultural Heritage Landscape" in the green highlighted area. Is this Burton interfering in another town's Cultural Heritage despite using the same words for Glen Abbey? What happened as a final result? How did Allan Elgar get involved if at all?

Developers giving cash for Heritage Property Renewal. They are not all bad, as Elgar would have you believe.

Allan Elgar has a quote stating that he fends off Bulldozers and he calls the building of new subdivisions on farms, "the final crop."

Another Municipal General Election and yet again, I have to address a new Municipal Land Transfer Tax on all homes sold in Oakville! Four years ago I said absolutely, "NO" to another Land Transfer Tax and I am stating the same response this year in 2018.

As shown below, I said No, and when you scroll down, Allan Elgar Did Not Respond! Mayor Burton said he would add this new tax onto all purchases of all homes within Oakville borders. Ask Elgar NOW how he would vote on adding on yet another tax on the buying of a home in Oakville.

Instead of cutting back all the reckless spending, Council would rather see more new taxes on Real Estate. Needs to be a change.

Goodbye to the Integrity Commissioner, I believe he was only ALLOWED to read ONE complaint in the past 8 years. Council will continue to Pre-Screen all complaints coming forward despite Justice Bellamy and her order to NOT allow Councils to pre-screen public complaints. So now, you have an even more difficult time to complain about anything Council and The Mayor do, or say going forward. Is this democracy?

As the new Town & Regional Councillor I will demand that all this be immediately reversed and a open and transparent process to complain be implemented for all our Oakville residents.

Allan Elgar DID vote against the Development of the Saw Whet Golf Course, however he also read the Merton Planning Study which stated that The Town of Oakville will not support maintaining Golf Courses. Does this bode well for The Glen Abbey Golf Course as well? Saw Whet is GONE now as so many other Golf Courses have been developed in the past 12 years.

It is important to note that despite Elgar's voting against development time over time, these same subdivisions STILL KEEP GETTING BUILT! Why is that? Because Elgar is only one vote and he is NOT convincing his fellow Councillor's to vote WITH him against increased growth. Elgar will not speak out and inform residents what was said and done in so many of those secret in-camera meetings that decided the fate of so much green-space in our ward and in our Region. Ask him to tell you what happened in that in-camera meeting with Greenpark Homes over the Saw Whet Golf Course? He won't tell you anything!

I will make it job-one to convince all of Town Council to vote with me and with their conscience and always with their constituents needs in mind even if their vote goes against what Mayor Burton is possibly pressuring them to do! And with the exception of Security issues, I will fight until completed for NO MORE IN-CAMERA MEETINGS.

What happens in Council Chambers in public during the voting process and what is said and done behind closed doors in private is another issue that needs to be stopped. FULL DISCLOSURE TO ALL OUR RESIDENTS AT ALL TIMES.

This document also kills the idea of candidate Rob Cottingham who advocates to let Glen Abbey be developed but turn recently Town owned Deerfield Golf Course into the New Glen Abbey Golf Course.

Read this important document below to see the truth...

Typical e-mail among many that I have received over the past four years of so many business people LEAVING Oakville due to the lack of Tourism in our Town and our Town Council simply not caring about this issue.

Elgar says he makes Developers pay! Not really true, Actually New Home Buyers end up paying in the Purchase Price. Is it fair that new residents to our town be forced to pay more and more year after year to buy into the Oakville Dream? Is it fair that our children and Grandchildren cannot afford to buy their own home in our town that they grew up in? The letter below from BILD shows that increasing Development Charges are hurting everyone in the Real Estate Market...

Is Allan Elgar Against Children Playing? Bike riding in our public forests a No-Go?

The Region of Halton bragging about how much New Construction has happened under their watch!

Oakville Chamber states Town Council NOT supportive towards Businesses...

Then as Now, I will always fight for our Oakville citizens no matter who is Mayor!

Cogeco 3-minute TV interview

Hello, My name is Gordon Brennan, I am 55 years young, and I am the local Candidate for Town & Regional Councillor for my home Ward 4.

I also ran for Mayor in 2014 and came in third place. I have been a resident, homeowner, taxpaying/ratepayer in Oakville since 1994 and a proud Glen Abbey citizen for the past 17 years. I live with my wife of 24 years and our two sons and three poodles in Westoak Trails.

I am running for Councillor because our ward and our town need new representation that is non-partisan, non-political, and people first oriented.

I am so fed-up of hearing the same tired slogans from my opponent every four years which are meaningless half-truth doublespeak.

For the past 12 years we have witnessed the almost total gobbling-up of all our farms, open and green space to massive development. All of our past Golf Courses except Glen Abbey are gone!

My platform will include among other items,

Fully Electric Transit Buses for Ward 4

Elimination of all “Performance Based” budgets and inclusion of zero balanced based budgets

Introduction of internet voting and a question to all citizens about ranked ballots

I only am allowed three minutes to inform you of how I want to help you and there is so much more to read and see on my website at www.votegordonbrennan.com or you can call me anytime day or night to help you solve your issue before or even after the election. I hope I can count on your support on October 22nd, please vote!

This Document proves that Rob Burton and his Council are NOT Open and Transparent, NOT responsible with our tax dollars and they have NO ACCOUNTABILITY to anyone except themselves. Back in 2007, they knew that they were going to go on a massive spending spree of record proportions so they removed any outside scrutiny of an Auditor. This is only one symptom of the huge debt we currently have at over $350 Million spread around between The Town, The Region of Halton, and Oakville Hydro. My opponent, Allan Elgar watched this happen year after year and failed at changing the ever increasing debt and reckless spending. This will NOT happen on my watch! I will fight 24/7 to reverse this unsustainable financial mess. All Councillors need to be on the same page and convinced to do what's right for our residents to avoid a financial bubble from bursting.

First, we must have the outside independent Auditor General returned immediately and he/she needs to be allowed complete access to ALL the financial records to do a line by line audit to determine where we REALLY are in terms of total debt, long and short term, total operating expenditures, including capital spending. Then we desperately need to create a CONSERVATIVE budget, (No austerity measures,) that finally eliminates the performance based budgeting and the wasteful spending, including the Political spending and return us to a TRUE balanced budget. One that can keep all our residents needs at the forefront but also finally begin to pay off the liabilities being left behind by this current Mayor and Council. Read the e-mail below...

My opponent Allan Elgar has SOLD-OUT from Glen Abbey. The home he resided in since September 1994 has been confirmed sold to a new owner for a whopping $1,825,000.00 on June 29th, 2017. He is still living at that same property now, presumably under a four year lease given the fact that he still wants to be re-elected and continue collecting the annual $90,000 salary plus expense account for the next four years. The real question is WHY did he sell his principal residence, (Tax Free,) during the height of the Real Estate BOOM in 2017? Was he finding the annual property taxes to be too high? Was he now realizing that residing in Oakville comes with a high cost of living? Or simply selling out now to guarantee his retirement will be very secure and luxurious with almost two million dollars in his bank account?

The point being he is entitled to sell his home anytime he wants to at whatever price he sees fit. The problem is he boasts how he has lived in Glen Abbey for many years. Here is the direct quote from his website... "Glen Abbey resident for 24 years – he knows our community issues! "

Most people who sell their primary home move-out and relocate to a new home. Elgar received the transfer money last year and is still living in that same residence. (Lease-Back) But the question remains...Why? He is very aware that under his watch so much green-space has been gobbled up by new development INCLUDING Saw Whet Golf Course which he promised he would save. Now, four years later he is back at it again promising to save Glen Abbey Golf Course from Development. Wouldn't it be much easier to leave Glen Abbey (Oakville) and relocate when you're just Renting? Timing of the Real Estate Market is always essential in not only being able to sell but to achieve top dollar for one's home. Elgar has done both of these items very well! He is fully aware of the massive long term debt that has been accumulating over the past 12 years, (more on that in future posts,) along with the fact that besides Glen Abbey Golf Course there is very little left over for him to "save!" In other words, Elgar has already formulated and prepared for his EXIT STRATEGY from Oakville when the inevitable financial and political crash does arrive. Read below the public records which clearly show Elgar's EXIT from Glen Abbey and eventually Oakville in the near future...

[69] One final issue that could be considered a point related to good faith is the matter of the assessment dispute involving the Glen Abbey lands. ClubLink points to the 2006 planning report commissioned by the Town and prepared by Ruth Victor in support of a higher assessment for the Glen Abbey lands (“the Victor Report”). Ms Victor prepared an opinion which advanced the position that the “highest and best use” of the lands is for “low and medium density residential uses” and that, in her estimation, the site could support the creation of 950 residential units. The Town adopted this position for the purposes of establishing the assessed value of the property as it would yield a higher assessed value and more taxation revenue. [70] ClubLink regards this as evidence of the fact that the Town anticipated and supported the eventual redevelopment of the lands. The enactment of the ICBL now contradicts that position and is evidence of bad faith by the Town when faced with a development proposal. [71] There is certainly an inconsistency that warrants some form of explanation. Mr. Butler offers the view that although the Victor Report is an independent planning opinion, it is one prepared for establishing what could potentially be the “highest and best use” for the purpose of assessment. As he explained, it is not an opinion prepared to establish the merits of such a redevelopment scheme (and those merits are not being tested here in any event) and, given that it was prepared over a decade ago, it could not address conformity with the current Livable Oakville Plan, the Region of Halton OP or other current issues such as Growth Plan conformity and heritage. [72] The Board concludes that the Victor Report offers evidence of little more than an attempt by the Town, perhaps in a fit of unwise avarice, to maximize property tax revenue from the Glen Abbey site without regard for how such an approach could undermine the careful consideration of the redevelopment of this area. By adopting a position that was not supported by its own plans and by-laws, the Town imprudently aligned itself with a planning opinion that concluded (for assessment purposes) that such uses could be approved. With the passage of time, this approach may have proven to be unwise, short sighted and self-interested. Although it may reflect bad judgment, it does not reflect bad faith in the passage of the current ICBL.

These statements are all excerpts from a 31 page document from the OMB issue date May 10, 2017. Case No: PL160331

To summarize, In 2006, Mayor Burton and his Council agreed on the above said report to maximize the tax generation (assessment) revenues to fund their never ending increased spending. They USED Glen Abbey Golf Course as a Town asset and decided it was a prudent idea to EXPLOIT it for tax revenues! Development WAS in their sights to grab more cash to fuel their higher and higher debit charges on their unlimited lines of credit.

The point being, Mayor Rob Burton along with Allan Elgar and the rest of Town Council WILL EVENTUALLY investigate, probe, examine and decide when and where development of Glen Abbey Golf Course will occur and in my opinion ANY OTHER REMAINING GOLF COURSES and other potential green or non-green spaces, also referred as "White-Spaces," all over Oakville to generate as much cash as possible to keep the ever increasing annual budgets alive. At this current junction, (August 26th, 2018) it is politically astute for Burton and Elgar to keep saying they will save Glen Abbey from development to garner VOTES in this years general municipal election. It is politically astute for them to continue spending hundreds of thousands of tax dollars in lawyer fees, court costs and legal wranglings, to delay the development. Then after they have secured the VOTES OF HOPE to win this election they will be free over the next four years to ultimately CASH-OUT for the very much needed $129 Million Development Charges and the $120+ Million in annual property taxes over 4 years. This same type scenario has been going on for the past twelve years! Saw Whet Golf Course was just a more current symptom of a much larger problem created by this Mayor and his Council.

Massive over spending, especially with the "Performance Based" Budgets have created an endless pit of debt that will burst at some point and massive developments will be the only major source of large enough revenue to keep the lid from boiling over. More to come...

GOLF CANADA CEO Laurence Applebaum says that the Development of Glen Abbey Golf Course is a Done Deal! Read the yellow highlited area. Does Allan Elgar know this...? More documents coming about Glen Abbey Golf Course that will shock you! Stay Tuned!

These Hydro Lines are perfect candidates for my pilot program of burying all our lines underground in Ward 4 as has been done for decades all over Europe. These lines are just asking to be blown down, ice stormed out, tree damaged and brought down by vehicle collisions. My opponent Allan Elgar will tell you it too expensive to bury the hydro lines in our Ward, that is utter nonsense! He is already spending $400 million+ ever year, there is more than enough money to do the job professionally and through private companies from around the world. But first I would like to see if any local Oakville companies can bid on this project successfully before going outside of our town.

Our Ward 4 can be the absolute envy of all Oakville after our lines are underground because we will no longer suffer from brown and black-outs from climate change extreme weather. Businesses in our area will not be shut down due to power outages, home residents will no longer suffer from no Air-Conditioning or freezing in their homes during the cold winters, Oakville Hydro will save millions in repair costs with no lose in jobs. Your refrigerator and freezer will no longer have spoiled food, people who need their electricity to be constant for their respirators or mechanical medical machines will no longer be concerned, your cell phone will no longer be cut-off due to the towers being down which can affect your ability to contact first responders for any emergencies, this is especially true for citizens in our ward who no longer have a home landline only cell phones. Why has this important program not been implemented already? Because Allan Elgar keeps agreeing with everything Mayor Burton states. (Which is that it is too expensive.)

Should I be elected Town and Regional Councillor for my home Ward 4 I will succeed in getting our hydro lines buried, this is 2018, and we can bring our ward up to the 21st century!

Very Interesting SPIN from Town Council on this information sign for this brand new upcoming new home subdivision. Which was promised by Elgar not to happen. But notice the 3500 trees sentence. It doesn't mention that almost every subdivision agreement mandates that the builder must include a boulevard tree in front of every new home. Are those included in the 3500 figure? Who will go and count each and every tree planted to ensure that 3500 of them are indeed in the ground? Will these trees be indigenous, mature or small little stick trees?

As your Town & Regional Councillor this would have NEVER happened under my watch, NEVER!

Alan Elgar states, "Controlled growth with new rules," Here is just one result of his new (OMB) rules...Saw Whet Golf Course today...

Some of my most recent Tweets...They reflect how I will stand behind our Ward 4 Citizens and all Oakvillians and to serve their needs and to be 100% Non-Partisan.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted Paul Allison

Our Oakville Mayor said this was going to happen in our municipal election then flip-floped and cancelled it all. (Referendum question to Kingston Voters on Ranked Balloting.)

Good governance comes from being 100% Proactive. A Reactionary Government stifles the Will of the People. As Town & Regional Councillor I will be proactive on all issues that help solve problems that cause reactive irrationality.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted Hiromi Okuyama

Are you hearing this Oakville Town Council? I think not since you voted, "No" to internet voting. Dreadful pity!

I've known about Roger and this "story" for many months and said nothing, citing personal privacy to him and his ex-wife. In my opinion, the details should never have been an election issue and no plain brown envelopes should ever have been passed around.

As Town & Regional Councillor I will be 100% open to all new ideas from all residents in how to enhance, upgrade, balance out, improve and refresh Oakville! No more ignoring, belittling and single mindedness from politicians.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted National Post

So, essentially my climate change adaptation strategy of building better sewers, hydro underground, heaters on our roads and sidewalks, and PVC fencing is just fine with the Professional Engineers.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted Town of Oakville

Thank you Andrea for the reply. Town Council & Mayor Burton began "fighting to save Glen Abbey" in 2015, Ward 4 residents should have had decision making powers over the change in borders.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted Town of Oakville

WHY was Glen Abbey Golf Course removed from Ward 4? The Residents should have a right to vote on its fate within their borders.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted Allan Elgar

Provided they pay the huge price tag of buying into the Oakville dream. Average sale price at $1,076,430. (Elgar was bragging how so many people want to come live in Halton Region.)

And now for something completely different, question for Ward 4 residents, allow chickens in your backyard, (no roosters and clean coops)

And now for something completely different, question for Ward 4 residents, BIA's and Residents Association's having much more decision making powers at council?

And now for something completely different, question for Ward 4 residents, Participatory Budgeting, where Residents Allocate Money in their Neighbourhood?

And now for something completely different, questions to residents of Ward 4, Ban on Right Turns at Red Lights? Prevents pedestrians from getting hit.

At a purchase price of $1 billion divided by 196,000 people, it would cost $5102.00 from everyone in Oakville to buy The Glen Abbey Golf Course. Would you pay? (Annual operating costs notwithstanding.)

As Town & Regional Councillor I will from day one on the job until the last day of the 4th year bring solutions to problems. No spin, no slogans, no labels. End of story.

Just a reminder...This election is not about Glen Abbey. It's about taxes, debt, overspending, transparency, secret in camera deals, parking, closing retail businesses, on and on...

Allan Elgar did vote against the development for Saw Whet Golf Course BUT he did read that The Merton Planning Study also said NO Golf Courses to be pursued! Did he then pander for votes to "save" Saw Whet?

The Victor Report, Re: Glen Abbey Golf Course. Sold-Out Part 2.1 The Conclusions.

This was done to one of my signs on Third Line just north of Upper Middle Road. I laughed my head off! To take the time to do that is just too hilarious! It was also done to Rohit Dhamija signs. Election signs are never a boring issue!

What's this 2018 Municipal Election about? First and foremost it's NEVER about a single issue, ie; Glen Abbey Golf Course. In a single word this election is about, "trust." Who can you trust to truly serve your needs? Not just your wants. "Responsibility" is next...

When I was speaking with Angela Chaves, Transitional Housing Coordinator for HMC Connections about her excellent presentation she asked me point blank, "Where is your Mayor, he was scheduled to be here," I responded, he doesn't believe poverty exists in Halton.

Mayor Rob Burton publicly declared he prefers to work with a "winning" council. Really? Wins for you and council over-rides service for all our residents? I think not!

A very Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Despite all the troubles we had the past two days we were still able to cook and enjoy our feast and think how grateful we still are!

Happy Thanksgiving 2018! My oldest son and I have nasty colds and one of my poodles injured his back paw just while we were preparing our dinner! Taking him to the vet soon. But we are still very thankful for all we have!

So called experts told me years ago not to expect much from my youngest son who is on the autism spectrum. Last night he won these two awards for academic excellence. These are for grade 10 Mainstream classes, not special needs!

Despite my cold, had the opportunity to be there last night! You be the judge...

Thanks for engaging with us and all the laughs, smiles and horn honking! We are happy to do it again even with Allan Elgar!

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted John McLaughlin

Should we be honoured with being elected as Oakville's municipal representatives it is our duty and responsibility to know all the details of any trade deals made by Federal & Provincial governments so we can better serve our constituents.

From 18 months ago...Burton was wrong. Amazon did not come to Oakville, traffic lights are still not synchronized, and we still have vacant storefronts. And Trump just made the USMCA with PM Trudeau.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted John McLaughlin

I just heard PM Trudeau say, "moving forward" in the House of Commons four separate times when describing this new USMCA deal. Borrowed those words from Burton?

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted TorontoStar

Will the real estate market correct itself? It has in the past? Unaffordability is even greater in Oakville. Municipal government has the lead in many aspects as well.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted Peggy

Agreed. I have been advocating and talking about that exact same idea since 2014. See my website...votegordonbrennan.com Rob Burton shut down that idea completely on his cogeco cable t.v. with ex-councillor Alan Johnson by stated it would cost too much.

The Greening of Oakville has to come from every plant and flower, every blade of grass, and even every vegetable garden. As Councillor, I will advocate for the total greening of Oakville with residents & businesses through a new program called "Greenworks."

I planted this beautiful indigenous maple tree myself on my front lawn that replaced my 12 year old ash tree that succumbed to the EAB. As Councillor, I am going to advocate for a million mature trees around Oakville well before 2050.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted Town of Oakville

AND PLEASE VOTE! We need a turnout this time better than the average 33% for the past 3 elections to effect change for you! Thanks.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted TorontoStar

The ideal formula is not more than 32% of your gross income and no more than 40-42% of net income for housing costs.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted Town of Oakville

Why was Glen Abbey Golf Course removed from Ward 4 and now encompasses Ward 2?

If elected as Town & Regional Councillor, I will immediately insist upon a public release of all information during the in-camera session of council over the deal made with the developer over Saw Whet Golf Course. The public needs to know the details.

I would motion for a pilot project that offers each and every Ward 4 resident an affordable, (under $40K) 100% electric vehicle in their driveways, produced and manufactured here in Oakville by local residents. Our air pollution would drop big time! Plus savings in gas costs!

As Town & Regional Councillor, I will work to secure a new manufacturing facility that produces cars similar to the GM EV-1, after we install all the necessary charging stations. Jobs galore and clean local air!

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted Anthony Farnell

This kind of "rare" event in Canada is becoming more common. We really need to put forth a climate change adaptation strategy for all our towns & cities infrastructure. Let's be proactive to save lives and property.

As Town & Regional Councillor I will insist that all photo-ops of newly constructed Rec-Centres, Bridges, Police HQ's, Fire Stations, etc., INCLUDE all construction workers, union & private contractor's, Town Staff, Administrators & more. No Mayor, no Councillors.

Another prime example of our brave front-line responders saving innocent lives from what could have been another shooting disaster. Speedy recovery to the two officers involved!

A superior man is modest in his speech, but exceeds in his actions. - Confucius Note to all Municipal Politicians! I would only add for 2018 the words, "or woman"

As Town & Regional Councillor I will bring forth a program that helps eliminate our RAT problem. My opponent is only concerned with one issue. I deal with ALL issues and offer solutions.

Very happy to have attended the 2018 at The Black Box Theatre to hear its expert panel presentations and ask questions. These wonderful, passionate professionals help thousands of individuals everyday. Elected or not, I will do what I can!

Next Monday is the 2018 State of the Town address, 2017 address Burton stated, Growth being Controlled, Amazon HQ2 coming, poverty reduction, Transit fleet to at least 9 full electric buses-ALL NOT! Words don't match actions!

With the exception of Glen Abbey Golf Course, all the other Golf Courses have been gobbled up by Development, read this 2015 article that lays out what I have been talking about since 2014. Don't believe the "Save" slogans this time around!

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted Julia Hanna

As a father with a child on the Autistic Spectrum, I welcome ALL Mayoral Candidates to participate in any meaningful programs that stimulate the ACCEPTANCE of all people living with Autism. Focusing on the interests of people with ASC is key for meaningful employment.

Help is on the way Mary! So glad to have spoke with you again tonight, and between us both we will get the job done, NO Thanks to and

Spoke with Mary Kenner again tonight concerning her broken culvert at her Grange Road property. She is such a sweet lady who is at her wits end because the Town has done nothing to help. I have found her a good contractor who will do the work. Mary is not in my ward, no worries!

We keep hearing, "Save Glen Abbey" from certain candidates. While the Fate of our Golf Course is being decided within The Courts, how EXACTLY are these candidates going to save Glen Abbey? This question applies to me as well.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted John McLaughlin

That's a 25% difference! A $16 million hike to taxpayers. The $81 million placed into the debt pool? (Re: Brand New Police HQ)

I filed an Integrity Commissioner complaint and spoke to Council about what Mayor Burton did/said to our Canadian Veterans. As Town & Regional Councillor I will always fight for our residents needs & wants...Always!

Spoke with several Sheridan college students yesterday and they indicated that on most days they have to wait up to 50 minutes before the bus picks them up! Really? I will implement a program that will have Oakville transit pick-ups in 5 minutes.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted Ann Mulvale

I remember taking my family to the Dynasi Restaurant for many years, that too all gobbled up by "bulldozer" Burton, with more to come.

Ann Mulvale would have also never allowed council pre-screening of my two Integrity Commissioner complaints against Justice Bellamy's ruling. She respects the courts and rule of law.

Oakville Firefighters are the lifeblood of our community. I want to change only the political interference, (Santoro, Burton, sign hammering etc.) Then the real work of saving lives and property can continue free of demagoguery.

My parents generation recalls the assassination of JFK, my generation remembers the horror of today's 9/11 date. Today we reflect on the First Responders who went head-first into danger to save lives. Their sacrifice and the innocent victims are memorialized.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted KM

Excellent Question, keep asking until you receive a public response. In the meantime you can contact me anytime to read dozens of e-mails concerning this seemingly never ending issue from RANGO, an excellent group that IS making a difference.

As Town & Regional Councillor I will fight to never see Oakville Hydro SOLD-off to pay for 12 years of reckless over-spending. Blink Communications was sold for $130 million and $40 million went to the new hospital but we still increased our debt even more!

One question for Ward 4 and now also Ward 2 Oakville residents...how do you propose we Save Glen Abbey Golf Course? Comment below...

As Town & Regional Councillor I will never sanction or vote yes to sell Oakville Hydro in whole or part either directly or indirectly through Oakville Enterprises or the Municipal Development Corporation.

It was very nice to see Tom Adams, Peter Longo, Marc Grant, and Jeff Knoll hammering in their own election signs at 1a.m. on Sept.7th in lieu of firemen. Let's keep them in the ground this time around please.

I wanted to personally thank that woman in the white vehicle who stopped to ask if we were O.K. as we pulled off the road to place signs. Oakville TRULY is a CARING town! (Except Burton)

Had a chance to meet & speak with Bill about the truths of Glen Abbey and The Victor Report. He's a great advocate!

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted Oakville Chamber

Business taxes-10% lower first year, red tape 100% removed, cost of housing-reduced development charges & LTT rebate++, bus route stops every 5 minutes vs. 30 minute wait time now, college grads cite more jobs/businesses outside of Oakville & better wages, so much more to write.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted Nick Hutchins

Nick, this has been an issue for over eight years now, I have talked with business owners...taxes are too high! Tourism is way down, parking should be free, Burton BLAMES the store owners for the failures.

Burton has been cited numerous times in print as stating, "there is no poverty in Halton." He exists in a vacuum bubble surrounded by millionaires. Money is immaterial to him. Ask the elderly homeowner with the broken culvert what she thinks of Oakville council?

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted John McLaughlin

True enough. I was in council chambers when many delegations presented their arguments against bans on election signs and saw how Burton and his councillors balked and suspended any decision-making on the issue. Internet voting will help & override sign politics.

I wonder if sign hammering by firefighters should be considered a value-added benefit that requires a dollar figure to be submitted into the next 2018 financial statements?

In 2014, Burton labelled ME the "Developer Friendly Candidate." This shocking document shown here is proof that the current Mayor and his Council use inside trading to subvert the democratic process. Perhaps another look at no more signs is in order?

These three Firefighter Associations donated to Rob Burton's 2014 campaign, one naming Santoro directly. Keep asking the tough questions!

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted Stefan Rees

Don't forget the Councillors who joined Burton in that short sighted choice. I will not be voting to opt-out of retail dispensaries. Cannabis will be legal, end of story.

Measurement and testing should be mandatory for all councillors and the mayor to avoid any conflicts of interest and to gauge their outcomes for Oakville and her citizens. Thanks for the reference points.

My platform as Ward 4 Town & Regional Councillor will contain two words..."Responsible & Individual." I will ALWAYS be "responsible" to my home wards problems and find solutions, no quitting. I will ALWAYS believe in every "individual" because they are the

What's the ultimate goal of a Oakville Town & Regional Councillor? RESPONSIBILITY. To whom? To ALL their Oakville residents, NOT to one political party, NOT to The Mayor, NOT one union, not one interest group, etc. My Mantra as Councillor, people first.

As Town & Regional Councillor for my beautiful home Ward 4, I do NOT want to see any additional "Before and After" photographs ever again. That enlists real Leadership in stopping the fiscal bloodshed and bringing back balance on 10/22/18

Before and After Equals Part One and Two of the continuing saga known as "Green Space Wars!" The continuing saga of how quickly Councillor Elgar and his BFF Mayor Burton can gobble & collect the millions $ in Development Charges.

I got a ton of "Honking Horns" from many residents on the many street corners I was standing on...SEEING IS BELIEVING! (For so many issues.)

Happy Labour Day! Thanking unions for today for giving workers a paid day off for a more productive fall season!

Kudos to for this 2016 article. As Town & Regional Councillor I would demand that in-camera council meetings be totally abolished. More sold-outs to come if council not voted out!

"Bull-Dozer" Burton has done it again, controlled growth? This development at Lakeshore Road & 4th Line shows more Development Charges being collected ALL OVER Oakville.

"Green Space for HIS wallet, "Growth" in total Municipal debt and rapid new development all over Oakville for more growth in Development Charges, & "Moving Forward" with continued Spin doctoring.

Performance based budgets enhance unaccountable amounts of tax dollars into a system that perpetuates reckless unending spending. It must end before the fiscal bubble bursts and huge austerity ensues.

Interesting fact...in 2014 I received 23% of the advanced polls votes. Burton-13.5% McLaughlin-10.5% What did I say/do to resonate in voters minds in advance of the actual voting day?

Do as I say...Not as I do. Number one philosophy in council and at the current mayor's office.

Ten years capital plan, ten years?? And still subject to Doug Ford's administration approval. The 1.6 Billion needs implementation now, one example...Dorval Drive hasn't been repaved in 4 years, drives like a train track. How much has been actually saved-up for capital projects?

Fair Play is NOT in Burton's and his Council's DNA, It's always a one-way street for them, going in the direction that they want and they control. IE: Integrity Commissioner-Gone, Internet Voting-Gone, Ranked Ballots-Gone, Independent Outside Auditor-Gone, etc...++

PLEASE VOTE on OCTOBER 22nd, 2018, and CHANGE THAT 33% figure to as high as possible, Municipal Government affects YOUR daily life more than Provincial or Federal Governments combined! VOTE! (Thank you.)

Burton and Elgar rely on voter apathy to win. They publicly stated they want all incumbents to remain, no changes. They openly stated they love winning. No mention of serving the people of Oakville. At 22% and 14% in academic terms both are a definite "F"

Don't be fooled again, as what happened at Saw Whet, this is being planned already with Burton's & Elgar's full knowledge.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted John McLaughlin

A picture is worth a thousand words! Proof positive that what I said in 2014 is all coming true. Don't forget the development charges for these $2 million+ homes AND the $15,000 property taxes for each home per year! Sweet deal between Burton&Salvatore. Glen Abbey is next!

Colin& Gord Brennan added,

You're welcome, best wishes on your campaign! :-)

Colin& Gord Brennan added,

Perhaps Nik Nanos can conduct a survey from middle class and those working hard to join them of how they rate the mayor and his council on taxes, real infrastructure, gobbled-up green space, municipal debt, air pollution, climate change preparations, +55 more.

Glen Abbey golf course may already be another "done-deal" in secret closed door meetings. The cash grab is just too much to pass by for the mayor and council. But the delay tactics will continue until fingers can be pointed at some "villain."

No More "Point & Shoot" Mayor, (Burton) who points at a problem (usually) created by him, and then shoots anyone who tries to fix the problem. End game should ALWAYS be problem found...problem solved.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted Colin& Gord Brennan

Spoke with Mary Kenner last night, an intelligent long-time ratepayer who has been shut-out by all our municipal politicians. I offered her two solutions to repair/replace the culvert, being put in Action today. Ward 6 Councillors looked and did nothing.

Where to start...Lower Retail Business & Municipal Property taxes, Lower rents and hydro bills, increase on site tourism, consult and ask business owners how to help them grow and earn additional profits. Be a Pro-Business Municipal Government,

Latest talk is about giving municipalities the power to partially and/or completely ban fast food drive thru's...comments, suggestions? (Reason given is for public health benefits.)

Shameful! That ancient culvert should have been upgraded to a storm sewer years ago. I have been alerting town staff to upgrade since 2014 to no avail. Now they add insult to injury for that homeowner.

Colin& Gord Brennan added,

And should Mayor Burton get his way that average price will increase even more with his new Municipal Land Transfer Tax.

Colin& Gord Brennan added,

Ask specific questions of all incumbents, and do the research when and where possible. Don't be fooled by slogans and spin.

How fascinating! Had phone conversations with two incumbent Councillors who told me that Mayor Burton is a bully to them. Let him try that with me...justice.

Current Mayor Rob Burton re-election slogan, since he appears to love labels and fluffy slogans should be, "pre-election spin, post-election non-truths."

Need debate on the "real" issues including media involvement, End reckless overspending, end the sell-out of Glen Abbey for the $130 Million in development charges, consult not dictate about pot selling, internet voting is a must, its 2018!

So many ill conceived decisions, I definitely will be headlining these excellent points during the election, but more importantly nothing but crickets from incumbents!

Too much "optics" and not enough common sense. Discussion is part of transparency and should always be welcome. Is our current incumbent Council close-minded or just held back by our current Mayor?

Colin& Gord Brennan added,

I have and always will support in any capacity the extensive involvement of private entrepreneur's with our municipal government. There is not enough interaction as is...ie: no internet voting in Oakville.

Colin& Gord Brennan Retweeted Chris Herbert

You're quite welcome! Thanks for engaging with us and for helping to promote public involvement in our municipal election, its needed!

Colin& Gord Brennan added,

Oakville Town Council decided no internet voting, so I am going to petition that the 8 p.m. closing time be extended to 9 p.m. on October 22nd, 2018. Many citizens work until 6 p.m. let them get out to vote!

Fact...Oakville transit loses $20 million per annum. Can we/should we partially or fully privatize the buses and not lose the union jobs?

As Town &Regional Councillor I am going to work with experts like and Blair Feltmate to immediately upgrade our Ward 4 sewers before its too late.

Definition of a hero...Our Oakville Police and Firefighters the front line workers. Embrace their actions on the job, NOT THE POLITICIANS WORDS. Their individual dedication towards helping others VS. politicians helping themselves.

The "new" Wyecroft bridge is contingent on provincial support/money. If no, what about a private group of companies building the extension?

As Town & Regional Councillor I will never, ever vote for a tourist tax in Oakville. We need a revenue generating machine FOR our businesses not for council.

As Town & Regional Councillor I will never, repeat never vote for a municipal land transfer tax! How about Elgar?

As Town & Regional Councillor I will work with and her son to turn our Ward into the most bike friendly in Ontario. They are the experts!

Spent the day in Niagara Falls yesterday. Tourism is BOOMING! Will Council embrace my new initiatives to revive our local businesses with tourists? Will our residents?

Colin& Gord Brennan

And this median is still in the same condition today...4 years later!!

Colin& Gord Brennan added,

"Fiscal Discipline...Where Art Thou?"

This needs to be the central theme around how Town Council spends Oakville taxpayer dollars. The numbers are staggering!

$1,230,000 spent everyday!

2006 total Budget-$197 million

2018 total Budget-$449 million.

$4.2 BILLION Spent from 2006 to 2018.

All that money gone and more and we are STILL talking and DEBATING about building new bridges, repaving old roads, some that haven't been touched in the past 4 years, nothing completed or brought to the table concerning Climate Change Infrastructure, not furniture infrastructure as has been done already, actual town asset infrastructure involving sewers, roads & curbs, sidewalks, flood and erosion preparations, burying our hydro lines and much more.

Having said all the above...WELCOME to the 2018 Oakville Municipal General Election!

I am very honoured to be a Candidate for Town & Regional Councillor for Ward 4, where I have lived, worked and played since 2001. I am very proud of my home ward and all that has been accomplished by the residents and businesses within our political borders. (More on those borders later.) There are of course, active and current issues that need to be addressed and immediate solutions put forth to remedy the problems. However, we need to keep in mind that our local ward 4 issues are also Oakville issues and Halton Region issues that all interconnect with each other. And despite the opposite musings of our current Mayor, Rob Burton, his office has much power over what happens to us here in Ward 4 and as your Councillor I will be fighting for our needs and interests 24/7. Especially when the Office of the Mayor, whomever that will be after October 22nd, 2018, makes policies that negatively compromise our position.

I have lived in Oakville with my wife of 24 years, Sandra and two sons since 1994. We have been homeowners, ratepayers/taxpayers since 1994. Sandra moved here from Mississauga and I moved to Oakville from Thornhill. Back in 1993, I was working for Greenpark Homes selling brand new homes on the North side of Upper Middle Road at Dorval Road, before there was bridge across 16th Mile creek. While I was becoming familiar with everything Oakville I discovered a then small town with big city services and a welcoming populous. I was then wanting to leave Thornhill because I was finding it becoming too much downtown Toronto-like. (No disrespect intended as I love downtown TO, just don't want to live there.)

Much more to come...

Well, it would appear that Rob Burton's worst nightmare has come true! As most Oakvillians are aware Rob Burton is a devote and fervent long time Liberal Party of Canada/Ontario supporter. He has over the course of 12 years as Mayor publicly endorsed every Liberal Candidate in both Federal and Provincial Elections, made speeches at Liberal Party Conventions, and diverted tens of thousands of dollars towards the Liberal treasury through Oakville Hydro. He has chastised anything and anyone even remotely related to anything Conservative online through his Tweets or on Facebook and on his personal website, www.robburton.org

Having said all that, Burton now finds himself smack in the middle of a Conservative Blue Wave that hit Ontario in last Thursday's Provincial Election, June 7th, 2018. The PC party was elected by the people of Ontario with a 76 seat Majority Government. Burton now has a brand new "Boss," Progressive Conservative Premier-Elect DOUG FORD! Burton will have to contend to dealing with a man who is a polar opposite to himself in so many ways, especially in their political ideology. Remember that all municipalities take their direction from Queens Park and Burton was very connected to former Premier Kathleen Wynne and her Ontario Liberal party. The Liberal party was completely decimated in this years election results and has even lost their official party status because they were only able to secure a total number of 7 seats at Queens Park. Kathleen Wynne has already asked Doug Ford to change the rules allowing the Liberal Party to be accepted back into the official fold with only 7 seats. Premier Ford has said he will ask his cabinet for their advice and get back to her.

Now, it is important to note that Burton's long-time Liberal colleague and Provincial supporter former MPP and Minister of Labour, KEVIN FLYNN lost his seat at the Ontario Legislature in this years election to PC candidate, now MPP-Elect Stephen Crawford. This is a huge blow to Rob Burton as he has been relying on Mr. Flynn for insight and political leverage within the "system" for the past 12 years. Additionally, many people in Oakville have already asked Mr. Flynn to run for Mayor of Oakville now that he has been defeated in the Provincial election. Should Kevin decide in the unlikely event to run against Burton in this years Municipal election the question should be asked...Will Kevin use his direct inside and vast knowledge of Burton's inner workings against Burton or will he run for Mayor to support Burton's re-election bid for a forth term in office?

I have met and worked with Kevin Flynn on a number of issues within Oakville and at Queens Park. I found him to be a kind, thoughtful, hard-working and decent man. However, he finally got caught-up in a riding that was predominately Tory Blue from 1990 to 2003 by an electorate that really wanted change.

The only personal item that I was very disappointed with Kevin Flynn was when I asked him for his help in securing the return of our almost adopted daughter from The Children's Aid Society, where he was the acting President, and he did nothing to help us. Our beautiful little girl was part of our family for almost a full year and was forcibly removed from our home and placed back into Foster Care against her will only because she felt comfortable enough to inform us of the horrible abuse she suffered at the hands of her former Foster parents and because of that disclosure she was removed from our care and has been suffering in multiple Foster homes for the past 4 years.

Rob Burton has now found himself surrounded on all sides by a political party that he despises with a passion. He has been such a vocal supporter of all things Liberal and a huge anti-Conservative for over a decade that this will now be his undoing. And rightfully so! I noticed that all of Burton's hatred postings against Doug Ford and his Conservative party on his Twitter feed have been hastily deleted one day after Ford's victory at the polls.

The question now is what is Burton doing at Oakville's Town Hall in respect to internal documents and e-mails that had anything to do with his involvement with the Liberal Party of Ontario and their efforts against the Ford Administration? Shredding of documents? Permanent deletions of confidential e-mails? Is he pulling a Dalton McGuinty move? (Where that former Liberal Premier got caught deleting e-mails concerning the Oakville/Mississauga gas plant scandal.)

The entire point being, and I have been stating this same fact since 2014, is that Rob Burton is NOT suppose to be a Liberal partisan Mayor. The AMO, (Association of Municipalities Ontario) clearly state that Mayor's are to remain Non-Partisan. Rob Burton has been slapping the AMO in the face for over a decade, he doesn't even try to hide his ultimate support for the Liberal Party. He is very proud of his association and he has been using the Office of the Mayor as a Liberal playground. He even had Justin Trudeau in the Oakville Town Offices in close-door meetings before becoming Prime Minister.

Now, I wish to make it perfectly clear that as a Centrist myself, I find it very disillusioning that Burton supports ANY Political party. If I were Mayor of our great Town, my motto would be..."Oakville First, Oakville Second and Oakville Third. Burton's theme has been Liberal Party forever. This has to stop! Oakville and her citizens have to be first and foremost at the Mayor's Office.

It's been announced and reported to me through the Toronto Real Estate Board that several Mayors across the GTA starting with Mayor Dave Barrow from Richmond Hill have been demanding that they be allowed to begin charging a Municipal Land Transfer Tax (MLTT,) on all sales of homes over and above the existing Provincial Land Transfer Tax. Toronto was the only city/municipality to be allowed to charge the additional tax on all property transfers. The property taxes in Toronto are and have been considerably lower than in the outer urban areas of the GTA including Oakville. This is totally unbelievable given we had dealt with this issue four years ago and Premier Kathleen Wynne, to her credit, said no-way! She steadfastly announced she would not be allowing a new second land transfer tax on the municipalities and it was then dropped. So, here we go again!

Mayor Barrow is claiming he needs the hundreds of millions of dollars in the extra revenue to keep up with infrastructure and services and stating that, "Growth should pay for Growth." Sound familiar? Rob Burton is a big fan of a new $20,000++ tax on each and every real estate transaction concluded in Oakville. Four years ago he stated, that he would definitely look into allowing this new tax during the Oakville Chamber of Commerce debate, which I attended, and its a sure bet that Burton will be at the Front of The Line with other Mayors that want to impose this levy again only this year. I declared in 2014 that I was against charging a new MLTT on all sales of homes and businesses and I reiterate that same statement once again. (As a private citizen, homeowner, and taxpayer of Oakville since 1994.) Burton has a spending problem and obtaining hundreds of millions of extra dollars in land transfer tax is right up his alley! Despite the extra hardship that new tax would impose on Purchasers/Buyers, especially First-Time Buyers on the affordability of homes. Which in fact Burton has said multiple times is an important issue because he stated prices are too high! He publicaly stated on the television show, "The Agenda" that he was very proud of Premier Kathleen Wynne's new program of adding the foreign buyers tax among others that brought about a massive drop in sales and prices across Ontario. So in one hand he says he wants affordable homes in Oakville and then in another hand he would be in great favour of adding thousands of extra dollars in tax on those same houses?! Makes perfect sense right? NOT!

I will be closely monitoring this important issue and keeping you up to date on it. My advice now would be to buy soon to avoid this new possibly upcoming tax, make sure that any Agreement of Purchase and Sale you sign does NOT have any special clauses in it that state you will have to pay this new MLTT should it become law before you close the deal you made on you're new home. Talk with your Lawyer and your Professional Real Estate Agent and get their opinions.

Mayors across the GTA need to stop simply working on new ways to tax consumers for their reckless spending patterns and discover better methods to pay for growth, especially mandated growth. How about lobbying the PMO's office and asking him where are the promised billions of dollars in his 2015 election campaign that was suppose to go towards investing in bridges, roads, and transit? What happened to all that money?

Have a read of this exchange I had with Rob Burton on Facebook along with what local Councillor Sean O'Meara had to say about Burton and building a long promised and much needed bridge. Burton is writing to me as if I was some kind of madman and that I have nothing better to do than be like him and lie like a rug! It is really next to impossible to have a civil conversation with Burton on any subject because he cannot listen to anyone criticize or disagree with him, especially when facts are being presented. I tend to wonder if Burton had a resentful relationship with his Father and whether or not he had any "rough and tumble play" as a boy because that has been proven to be a great precursor to developing empathy and knowing the difference of when to stop playing before that play becomes hurtful. Burton has zero empathy to Oakville taxpayers/ratepayers and any plight that they may have to endure due to any of his municipal policies and decisions. Burton has "hurt" thousands of Oakvillians with his words and actions especially over the past eight years as told to me directly from many upon many Oakville citizens that I have spoken with over the past four years. This Facebook exchange proves just that point. READ ON...

Hello/Hi Again to all who have been very loyal fans (over 13,000 of you!) of this blog/website for the past 12 months despite the fact that I have refrained from posting anything because Mayor Rob Burton and his "team" have been closely monitoring my website since 2014 when I was running against him for the Mayoral office. So THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all your views and interactions on this website since May 2017 until now. Very much appreciated! :-)

We are now only 3 days away from yet again another General Municipal Election. Three days away from when the official candidates for Oakville Municipal offices can begin their election and re-election campaigns. Three days away from hearing Rob Burton's claims of glory and campaign rhetoric that will self proclaim him the one and only Mayor candidate that "cares" for the citizens of Oakville. (Gag-me with a spoon!)

This year in 2018 we are facing a very different set of circumstances in terms of the ingredients of the style, policy issues, and of course the financial picture of the past four years of more Burton heavy-handedness in every aspect of our lives. In the next few weeks I am going to be publishing a ton of factual information that I have been collecting since 2015 until now that will truly expose Rob Burton for who he really is... a career Politician who loves his position in power and his public claim that he wants to finish the many projects he has not been able to complete in the past four years. Nothing about wanting to fix problems or prepare for future issues affecting OAKVILLE CITIZENS, no, just about what HE WANTS, what is important to him! The photo of Burton declaring his very early candidacy while having a backdrop of the Glen Abbey Golf Course and Councillor Tom Adams sort-of beside him was an interesting sight in that Mr. Adams did NOT look pleased in any way about Burton announcing his need to affirm his running for Mayor for a forth term. Was Councillor Adams hoping to run and possibly succeed Rob Burton?? Was he expecting Burton to support his candidacy for Mayor? Questions that should be asked of Councillor Adams.

In the coming weeks and months I am going to publish right here everything that I have been collecting about Rob Burton and how he has been manipulating Oakvillians and using his position as Mayor to further his endless need for absolute power and control. I have LEARNED SO MUCH in the past four years about how Burton is as a person and more importantly as Mayor of Oakville, a position that is suppose to be one of service to this great town and her citizens/ratepayers. Burton's wanton disregard to our citizens is so evident, especially now given his focus is more than ever on himself and how he will do practically anything to maintain his foothold on our democratic rights as taxpayers in Oakville.

Much, much more to come very soon...Please STAY TUNED.

Why is Ward 5 Councillor Jeff Knoll literally falling asleep during his duties as MAG Chair?

Why is Ward 5 Councillor Jeff Knoll taking credit for work done on the Airplane noise issue when he was clearly NOT involved and other people were actually doing the work?

Should Jeff Knoll step down as MAG Chair and let someone else take the reins and actually get this issue solved once and for all? After virtually nothing has been done for the past 3+ years?

Did Mayor Rob Burton even RESPOND to this e-mail sent to him about Jeff Knoll?

Mayor Burton,

I recently read and reviewed the Mayor's Advisory Committee on Aircraft Traffic and Noise, a report tabled by Councillor Jeff Knoll. This manufactured document of inaccuracies and misrepresentations goes well beyond the normal threshold of political hyperbole. The councillor’s self-aggrandizing piece of creative writing is beyond belief.

I write to you as the former co-chair and a current executive committee member of the Toronto Aviation Noise Group. I have been involved with the issue since day one (May, 2012) where a small group of Leaside neighbours grew to a multi community coalition representing six City of Toronto Councillors and their thousands of constituents. We have hosted or attended hundreds upon hundreds of meetings with our communities, elected officials, NAV CANADA and the GTAA in the last four years. I was a presenter alongside Oakville’s own Captain David Inch at the very first MAG meeting in February, 2015.

I was utterly astonished to read Councillor Knoll’s report where he fabricates both his involvement and the results/accomplishments he credits himself with achieving. You and your constituents are being badly misinformed and misled.

The ten mile radius change had been mandated in the fall of 2014 when then Minister Raitt made the announcement at a T.A.N.G. roundtable in MP John Carmichael’s office. This was done months in advance of Councillor Knoll arriving at CENAC, an ineffective body that has to defend the flawed airspace designs of NAV CANADA. Councillor Knoll was not at that roundtable or the one previously held in 2013.

Captain Inch had been working with T.A.N.G. since September, 2014, months before the first MAG meeting. We were responsible for editing/collating his official submission and arranging all meetings with MP Carmichael and the Minister’s staff, including a briefing in Ottawa that both David and co-chair Marg Evans attended. Captain Inch worked with us because he respected our knowledge and work ethic and he benefitted from our highly developed network and access to decision makers. Nothing in Oakville existed at that time and Councillor Knoll was not involved in advancing these efforts.

In February, 2015 I presented at the first MAG meeting. Following that meeting, it took considerable reminders to get a letter of support from the Oakville councillors and we have not heard from Councillor Knoll since. Oakville residents reached out to T.A.N.G. by Twitter, email or our website to ask for updates and developments as nothing was happening with MAG.

After initially being refused to present at CENAC, MP Carmichael, T.A.N.G. and Toronto CENAC resident reps advocated and successfully achieved having the Inch Report heard on April 29, 2015. It was Councillor Knoll’s first official CENAC meeting. He attended the closed door presentation and left before the open, public meeting where constituents can ask questions of their elected officials.

The development of the The Airspace Change Communications and Consultations Protocol  began following T.A.N.G.’s previous “years” of persuasive advocacy and our official submission and recommendations in September 2014. The protocol was announced on June 17, 2015 and in her audio press release and national newspaper articles Minister Raitt recognized the work of T.A.N.G., the “disaster” in Toronto and a protocol that was expected to be implemented in all Canadian airports. There is no mention of Councillor Knoll being the impetus for change as he states but rather an informal shout out at the end of the Q/A to her local councillor, an expedient thing to do in an election year! http://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/raitt-announces-new-airport-noise-consultation-protocol-1.2426907

That night the protocol was presented at the CENAC meeting, Councillor Knoll fell asleep during the presentation and according to the published minutes on the CENAC website was not in attendance for any of the remaining CENAC meetings in 2015. A surprising lack of interest after advocating for a seat on the committee. On both CENAC occasions I had to reintroduce myself as the co-chair of T.A.N.G. to the councillor because he didn’t know who I was. So much for strong alliances.

The aviation noise issue is a national issue, not isolated to the GTAA. Our sister groups in Calgary and Montreal are in contact with us on a regular basis. Montreal is planning a class action suit and Calgary is having to deal with the frustrating “one on one” NAV CANADA open houses, 2 already this year. Please see the video links below.

The roundtable community meetings held in the summer of 2015 were not open to the public but by invitation only. Toronto was divided into 3 areas and recorded attendances of 20-22 participants at each event. Oakville had 23. This in no way suggests that “no other municipality influenced change more than Oakville” as reported by the councillor and that Oakville had one of the largest attended roundtables!

Of the current noise initiatives recommended, T.A.N.G. and Captain Inch are responsible for five of the six and many more were rejected. No aviation noise group is satisfied with the content of the current protocol document. Particularly worrisome is on page #10 of the document where it allows NAV CANADA the ability to increase the already intolerable traffic by 30 percent during the day and 15 percent at night. Concentration and location is the issue. Councillor Knoll appears to be resigned to give up.

T.A.N.G. and our elected representatives at all levels are forming a coalition to reject the current protocol at the upcoming public consultations. Civic and provincial politicians are engaging with federal MP’s on behalf of their constituents. Mayor Tory and a coalition of Toronto Councillors has gone public in support of T.A.N.G. Our elected officials have made the effort to read the considerable material we have produced and familiarized themselves with all resources not just the NAV CANADA party line. They know there are solutions and they can be part of an effective change. A quote from the City of Toronto Councillor Coalition when writing to Minister Garneau, “City of Toronto constituents are your federal constituents, they live under the same flight path, the same sky. Our coalition of Councillors is prepared to co-operatively work with you in finding a community sensitive resolution. We look forward to hearing from you as to how we can participate in bringing about this change.”

There is considerable unfinished business on this issue! Why then is Councillor Knoll sun setting the file and turning it over to RANGO? He is abandoning his constituents at a time when they need him most. Politicians are elected to advocate for those who aren’t being heard. With a new majority government, a new Transport Minister and a new CEO at NAV CANADA we have the best possible opportunity to change the status quo.

I am embarrassed for Oakville that Councillor Knoll has so badly let you down on this issue. He may be doing some wonderful work in other areas of concern but on this one he gets a fail.

I think you would agree that hosting two MAG meetings, attending another few CENAC meetings and going to a roundtable meeting last summer could not have produced the exaggerated results he is taking credit for. Instead he has provided you with masses of regurgitated CENAC materials and newspaper articles attempting to make it look like he has done something. He has been riding on the coattails of T.A.N.G. and a very committed constituent and expert in his field, Captain David Inch. He’s not prepared to put in the work (2 MAG meetings?) but show up for the photo shoot or media opportunity to take credit. According to his Twitter account he has another self-promoting opportunity planned for this evening. It is utterly unfair of him to abandon his responsibility to constituents by expecting RANGO to voluntarily commit their time and resources to represent Oakville. It should be Councillor Knoll who was elected to do so and financially remunerated to perform his duties.

I respectfully request your confirmation of receiving this correspondence.

IS THIS A POWER FAILURE WAITING TO HAPPEN? There are dozens of transformers all over north Oakville that look just like this one on Postmaster Drive. They are clearly rusted through and are in need of immediate replacement of the outer casings and there is exposed junction cables on the sides and bottom that could be easily cut or severed by anyone. Mayor Rob Burton is in his suit and tie everyday in his $250,000 renovated office instead of surveying our Town and getting these boxes fixed! Please someone at Town Hall get someone from Town Staff to come out and record these boxes and get them replacements right away BEFORE there is a blow-out!

This happens EVERYTIME in our North Glen Abbey neighbourhood when there is any appreciable amount of wind, knocking down hundreds of Blue recycling bins on the day they are to be emptied by The Regional trucks. The wind then carries hundreds, perhaps thousands of pieces of plastic, cardboard, paper, and metal products away from our local roads and into our local creeks, woodlots, and on homeowners front lawns. This does NOT have to happen anymore! I have been advocating for two years to get Blue Bins with lids on them to prevent this needless polluting of our beautiful open lands and parks. Mayor Rob Burton and Regional Chair Gary Carr are always stating that it is TOO EXPENSIVE to change the bins! REALLY? Then why did Toronto, Brampton, and Mississauga change their bins to ones that have secure lids on them? Is it that hundreds of millions of dollars are being spent on other more personal or political programs that are favoured by Burton and/or Carr? We live in an affluent community, and we are suppose to have the Greenest Mayor, yet thousands of pieces of recycling materials are being wind blown into our natural lands and polluting them for many months or even years until it is either collected by Town Staff or Volunteers on the annual Earth Day. Who knows what is being missed and further polluting our natural areas for years? If you believe we need to have closing lids on our outdated blue boxes please call, e-mail and tweet to Rob Burton and Gary Carr...

Sorry for not blogging here for the past 2 1/2 months, just got all caught-up with personal items, had to help my wife find a new job as her Rogers Communications contract finally ended after 5.8 years on the job, (she is now with Telus Health) and my youngest son Colin, (who sings on this website,) was invited back to sing at The Mermaid Theatre in London, England so I am very busy trying to fund-raise for the Airplane tickets, plus still fighting with The Hamilton CAS to try and get my almost adopted Daughter back to us here in Oakville after she was taken from us and put back into Foster care, and finally I had a bad Flu-bug late in this season that knocked me out for a bit. Having said all that I have been still VERY active behind the scenes in discovering how our beautiful Town is still being mismanaged by our Mayor Rob Burton and some of his Councillors. What I can tell you here at this point in time is that there will be some very BIG news in May of this year (2016) that should and will shock many of you into utter disgust at how some of our elected municipal officials are manipulating the system and it's process for their personal gain. I cannot get into any details (yet) but be assured that when the real unencumbered, transparent Truth is exposed it will send shock waves throughout our Town, as it should be!

So here we are again today, (December 28th, 2015) watching and waiting to see what happens with this massive Winter Storm that has come upon our beautiful Town of Oakville. Tonight we are experiencing 10-15 cm of snow, high winds, and ice pellets. This low pressure storm has come up to us from the State of Texas which spawned F-3 and F-4 Tornadoes, destroying thousands of homes and killing 49 people including a child! Texas homeowners and businesses also encountered massive floods which overwhelmed them with images of people on top of their vehicles having to be saved by heroic fireman. Will this storm be another 2013 ICE STORM? I hope not!

During the 2016 budget meetings at Council Chambers one of the Commissioners stated that her budget for the Ash Tree program was completely shot and over budget due to the 2013 Ice Storm because she had to spend millions more to cut down trees that were damaged due to the freezing rain from that storm. Is this going to happen again tonight? I hope not!

For the past 23 months I have been advocating for our Mayor and his Council to be proactive and put into place programs to combat Global Climate Change and Global Warming by not just reducing our carbon footprint but by upgrading our Town services to be able to withstand the weather extremes we are facing, like tonight. Mayor Rob Burton has said on Town T.V. that my idea about burying our hydro lines is too expensive. It's not too expensive to bury our Cable T.V. lines. It's not too expensive to bury our landline telephone lines. Why keep our most precious resource above ground? Our Power, our Electricity! How would YOU like to be able to say I am not worried about having a power outage because my Town is virtually immune to the weather knocking out my power because my Elected Officials were smart enough to bury our lines? That would be awesome! Not with Rob Burton. How about being able to say my Roads won't be a total mess to drive on because they are heated and dry before any snow or ice can build-up on them? Not with Rob Burton. How about being able to say, my basement won't flood due to excessive rain because my sewers have been expanded to be able to intake additional water. (This would have been very welcome to the hundreds of Homeowners in Burlington who had their basements flooded last year) Not with Rob Burton. We are now paying an additional surcharge to The Region of Halton to pay off the additional $90 million to clean up that Burlington mess!

And don't let Mayor Rob Burton tell you that it is rare that Oakville will suffer from weather extremes especially when we had such beautiful record breaking warm sunny weather during most of December 2015. (Just ask the thousands of Homeowners in North England today who are suffering with massive floods due to having record rainfall, a months rain in 24 hours!!) It only takes one or two weather related events to mess up our Town and cost us even more untold millions of dollars to clean up the mess. Let avoid the clean-up!

We have the technology and the resources to do what needs to be done to prepare our Town now to withstand the weather extremes that are inevitable and will hit us over and over again. Mayor Rob Burton is spending hundreds of millions of your tax dollars every year and is paying for programs that are important TO HIM! He needs to know from you that our TOWN is important enough to keep safe and sound by reinforcing our infrastructure now, not decades from now or only AFTER a natural disaster has occurred.

CONGRATULATIONS to all the wonderful and amazing Doctors, Nurses and support Staff at our Brand New Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital! Today, (December 13th, 2015) is the official move out-move-in day! The (Old) Legacy Hospital is now permanently Closed and the new one officially Open! 273 patients from the old Hospital were moved over to the new Hospital. Many good and "bad" memories from the old legacy Hospital. Both my son's were born at the old Hospital with very supportive Doctors and Nurses. Comparing the two Hospitals is apples and oranges. Very very different. My wife and I had the honour to tour the new Hospital weeks before it opened. There will no doubt be some learning curves and possible minor bumps within the new Hospital but I know that they will be quickly resolved as we have the best Health care workers in that new Hospital. We will most likely need many more additional personnel within the new walls of this $2.7 Billion facility. Many new "good and bad" memories will begin from today onward. The only concerns I have with the opening of this brand new Hospital is that now the 5% interest clock begins ticking on our $200 Million donation towards this Hospital over the next 30 years. Who knows what will happen financially over the next 30 years? And those six diesel smoke stacks on top of the main tower will now be belching out black toxic plumes of smoke into my Ward 4 and Ward 5 areas. They should be filtered. Having said that, we should all be very proud that we now have a new Hospital that will venture us all into a new era of health care that will keep us healthy and alive!

BIG NEWS! As of December 1st, 2015 The Provincial (Liberal) Government has announced (in a surprise statement in Question Period) that they will NOT be extending the power to all Municipal Governments to create and implement a new Municipal Land Transfer Tax, (MLTT.) This is great news to all incoming new purchasers (Buyers) in Oakville, who will now not be further burdened by an additional tax on top of the already existing Provincial Land Transfer Tax. Affordability is already a huge barrier in buying Real Estate in Oakville, especially for First Time Purchasers. As I predicted months ago here on my website, (scroll down to see) The Ontario, Canadian and Toronto Real Estate Boards all lobbied hard to keep this additional tax on buying a home away from Oakville and the surrounding Municipalities. Along with the Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board who did their part to be in MPP's faces to "see the light," against another large tax on properties. So, Kudo's to Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and her Municipal Affairs Minister, Ted McMeekin for the welcome relief on Oakville residents wallets.

PUBLIC NOTICE! I will be a delegation during the Oakville Council/Budget Committee on December 2nd, 2015 at Town Hall in Council Chambers at 7 p.m. I will be asking pointed questions to all Councillors present including Mayor Burton if he is present and Committee Chair Tom Adams. Town Council and our Mayor are making large decisions on how YOUR tax dollars are spent and how they bring in revenues into the Town's treasury. Our elected Municipal Politicians are operating our Town with a massive budget of almost half a billion dollars every year!

If you have any questions that you believe should be brought forward to this Committee please e-mail me your question(s) and I will bring them to the Council/Committee.

Mayor Rob Burton has just recently announced that the (Old) "Legacy" Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital will not be hosting any Syrian Refugees. Here is his exact quote...

"Though the legacy Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) site will not be decommissioned in time to be a suitable facility to house refugees, there are other ways we will be helping."

PUBLIC NOTICE! Just found out that Mayor Rob Burton has been discussing with The Federal (Liberal) Government that The (Old) Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital may be hosting Syrian Refugee's.

What do you have to say about this??

My questions to the Mayor would be..

How long would the refugees be staying at the soon to be vacated OTMH?

How many refugees will be staying at the Hospital?

Will the (old) Hospital still be staffed to give Medical treatment, Medical Physicals, Diagnoses, to these refugees? Would make sense given they are already within a Hospital setting.

How will this hosting of refugees delay the demolition of the old Hospital?

Will the Federal Government be paying all the associated costs of hosting the refugees or will The Town of Oakville have any costs allocated to host the refugees?

I am sure that any refugee families would be welcomed by Oakville citizens and shown how much a great Town we live in, but having said that, what security provisions would be in place for protection of refugees while in our Municipality?

Send me your comments via e-mail or ask Mayor Rob Burton directly or your local Ward Councillor.

Yesterday, (November 23rd, 2015) there was yet again another yearly cloud of salt dust flying around our Oakville airshed due to all the tons of road salt dumped on our local and regional roads because the day before we had some small accumulations of snow in and around our Town. For two years now I have been very concerned about the affect of all this potentially toxic combination of salt and the additional chemicals in the deicing and snow melt aspects of our roads. Every year I am concerned about how we breath in these clouds of road salts as we drive through them and what it is doing to our local creeks, streams, and the natural wildlife around our town. Not to mention how these salts damage our roads and sewers along with rusting out our expensive cars and trucks. Is it not time to stop dumping tons of "inexpensive" road salts and go with a more proactive and technology based method to keep our roads free and clear of snow and ice? We all live in a Town that has been rated as the 4th wealthiest Towns/Cities in Ontario. Can we not have our Mayor keep up with the times and use our wealth to keeping our roads free from toxic dumps every winter? I think we CAN! It's high-time to begin installing heaters in our roads, it can and has been done many times in the U.S.A. and in Europe, and it works! Here is some close-up pictures of what you are breathing in every winter and what is being dumped into our local natural environment. Rob Burton is suppose to be a Mayor that is an environmentalist...Really?

On August 13th, 2014 Mayor Rob Burton promised and stated that Oakville Hydro rates will NOT go up due to the $90 Million donation from Oakville taxpayers towards the brand new Hospital that will be opening next month, (December 2015.) One point to remember about that donation...it was originally for $120 million but was offset with the sale of Blink Communications to Rogers Communications for about $30 million. (Please keep in mind that the Agreement of Purchase and Sale was kept CONFIDENTIAL from the public!) However, due to the 5% interest that has to be paid every year on the debenture of the debt that will be on the books for the next 30 YEARS the debt will expand to over $200 million! Our children will be on the hook for this amount!

But back to my original point...Burton stated don't worry your Hydro rates will not go up due to the donation of $90 million to the new Hospital. Here is what is on Oakville Hydro's website dated today, (November 7th, 2015,) ....

Notice of Application and Hearing for a Rate Adjustment

Oakville Hydro Electricity Distribution Inc. has applied to the Ontario Energy Board to increase the amount it charges by $0.03 each month for the typical residential customer beginning on January 1, 2016. Other customers, including businesses, will be affected as well. To view Oakville Hydro Electricity Distribution Inc.'s Application click here.

Here is what has happened to my Hydro rates in the past 4 years...How are your Oakville Hydro rates doing? Remember WE are suppose to own Oakville Hydro!

Yearly payout 2012- $4711.00

Yearly payout 2013- $4620.00 (or -1.9%)

Yearly payout 2014- $5089.00 (or 10.2% Higher!)

Yearly payout 2015- $5613.00 (or another 10.3% Higher!)

Rob Burton and his inner circle of high powered friends are all multi-millionaires. They don't care one iota about how property taxes, Hydro and Gas rates, and food prices are constantly going up. They don't know what it is like to live on a budget and have to tweek it every year to try and offset the ever rising cost of living. Rob Burton sits on the Board of Directors of Oakville Hydro, he makes decisions on how your rates are driven. He lives in a world of ultimate luxury, he never has to worry about how his living expenses are going to be paid. Anything that he desires is not a problem, he wants to purchase any item, he simply goes out and buys it. He is out of touch with Oakville citizens who do worry about how to keep paying their bills, who are concerned with how their business is going to survive long term, how they are going to offset the ever rising property taxes, user fees, Hydro, Gas and Water utility rates that Mayor Rob Burton keeps raising each and ever year! Rob Burton has publicly stated that poverty does not exist in Oakville! Really?? Not in his Upper Class world of multi-millionaires perhaps, but he is dead wrong in thinking that all residents in Oakville have no worries about their finances. Rob Burton does not help anyone in Oakville who care about how to keep living day by day with rising taxes and fees that he keeps on accelerating.

What is Mayor Rob Burton REALLY doing to circumvent Global Warming and Global Climate change in Oakville? NOT MUCH!

All one has to do is listen to the most recent global and North American announcements of out of control and crazy weather patterns that are so far affecting our American friends and International citizens more than we have seen here in Oakville. We have been very lucky to not have had more damage and problems from extreme weather like the ice storm of 2013 which cost us all millions of taxpayer dollars to clean-up. Also, remember all the flooded basements in Burlington? Because of that massive clean-up and the huge costs, Gary Carr our Regional Chairman and close confident with Rob Burton has imposed a new special levy (tax) to help pay for what The Region had to dole-out to fix all the damages due to the massive rainfall that fell in a very short amount of time.

Many local organizations such as Oakvillegreen are doing their part to try to slow down global warming with planting thousands of trees across Oakville. I know firsthand what a fabulous dedicated group of people they are as I volunteered many hours with my oldest son planting many trees around Oakville. But that is not enough. Rob Burton is suppose to be an environmentalist and he is not getting our beautiful Town ready for the inevitable weather extremes that will befall on our Town. We really need to upgrade all our sewer systems to be able to take in extra rainfall. We really need to upgrade our local roads with heaters so we do not require toxic road salt anymore and avoid the never ending expansion/contraction ruts and "train-track" bumps that occur every year with the back and forth hot/cold temperatures. We need to avoid the constant threat of power outages by burying our power lines. Rob Burton says that all my ideas are too expensive. This from the man that is spending upwards of $34 million a year on Ash-Trees! Now that his Liberal friend Justin Trudeau is our new Prime-Minister I am actually hoping that Burton obtains a large Federal cheque with many zeros on the end of it for "infrastructure" spending. Those monies could easily be incorporated into upgrading all our neglected roads, sewers, bridges, and preparing our Town for Mother Natures oncoming weather extremes. Global warming and Global climate change is a scientific fact. It is with us and it is not going to abate, perhaps we can help to slow it down, but stop it in our lifetimes...No, not going to happen. So, in turn we need to be proactive and get our Town ready to withstand what will definitely come to be given time. Mayor Rob Burton is IGNORING all the signs! Examples include but are not limited to...

-Massive fires in California USA largest on record. With +45 degree Celsius temperatures.

-Massive fires in British Columbia with drought in Vancouver, over $200 Million spent on fighting fires in BC, budget smashed because of fires.

-More massive fires in Calgary and Saskatoon.

-2014 was recorded as having the highest world wide temperature with July having the highest warming temperature on record since 1880!

-Massive floods in South Carolina, the worst in 1000 years!

-Hurricane Patricia formed from a tropical depression into a Category 5 Hurricane in only 24 hours because of the warm waters in the Atlantic ocean.

-Texas USA was soaked with massive floods with over one foot of rain and many deaths.

The list goes on of more and more extreme weather and sooner than later it will hit us in Oakville. Infrastructure spending as promised by Prime Minister Trudeau should not be just new transit and repaving roads but preparing our physical assets for weather extremes. Why pay hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to fix and clean-up after we are hit with bad weather and spend much less now to retrofit our Town assets to withstand extreme weather? We have the technology and hopefully the dollars from our new Federal Government to implement a program that will put us in a good position for the next three decades of global weather extremes. Rob Burton...get with the program and listen to the science and be proactive for a change!

Here we go! Last year, (2014) during the General Municipal Election Campaigns, which now happens every 4 years, a question was posed to all Candidates including Rob Burton and myself about whether or not we support a new Municipal Land Transfer Tax. I have posted the results of what all the Councillors and other Candidates said in support or not below this post, but suffice it to say most Candidates at that time did NOT support a new MLTT while some like Ward 4 Councillor, Alan Elgar, gave NO response to the question and Rob Burton IS in support of a new Municipal Land Transfer Tax.

It was recently announced that the Liberal Provincial Government has given the go-ahead to changing the Municipal Act to allow all Municipalities in Ontario to implement and charge a new Municipal Land Transfer Tax. This will in essence add anywhere from $18,000 to $50,000+ extra cost to purchase residential Real Estate in Oakville. But the mega millions of additional dollars pumped into the Oakville treasury will be way too much of a temptation to Rob Burton to pass-up. He has a spending pattern in the past 9 years that only supports more and more taxes on Oakville and her citizens. And a new MLTT is only one additional method to extract more dollars. You can be assured that there will be an outcry from many people and professional organizations including many Real Estate Boards and active Real Estate Agents, but Rob Burton will not listen to any of them and simply push ahead with this new tax revenue. He feels very empowered now with a Liberal Government in power at both Queens Park and Ottawa. While I remain non-partisan to which party is in power, they can and should do the right thing and come-up with better more neutral and taxpayer friendly revenue streams, not a new MLTT. Burton will be thinking that Purchasers, (Buyers) and Vendors, (sellers) will be angry over the new tax but in time will simply get used to it and will be more accepting.

Mayor Rob Burton is on a mission to devise more and more ways to tax us, (as displayed with his new tax on Drivers Education and local Landscapers as made public in the last Council Meeting.)

The main concern I have about a new tax on home purchases is the fact that when there is a correction or crash in the Real Estate market this new tax will only fuel that downturn even more. It is most definitely a regressive tax on the single most important and expensive purchase made by Buyers and ultimately Sellers as well.

Back in July 2015, I was predicting that Mayor Rob Burton would be introducing a new Ward for North Oakville. Jim Smith, a local Ward 6 citizen and past Town Councillor was steadfastly opposed to having even the current roster of 12 Councillors. He was stating that if he was elected in the past By-Election for Ward 6 that he would attempt to cut the Councillors in half to save money even if it meant his job as well. I knew that Mayor Burton would never allow that to happen as he loves having all the Councillors rallying to him on every issue.

Having said that Rob Burton has publicly announced that he will be introducing a new Ward 7 with a new and additional Councillor! Along with the additional $50,000 in salary and benefits. You can be sure that whoever obtains that new Councillor seat in Council will be another Burton supporter all the way. Democracy in action?

On October 19th, 2015 I worked for Elections Canada as a Central Poll Supervisor from 7:30 a.m. until 2 a.m. the next morning October 20th, 2015! It was a fantastic experience as an Elections Official and all my training and past political experience really came into fruition. I had an excellent team of Deputy Returning Officers, Poll Clerks, Information Officers and Registration Officer. We all worked really well with each other and they enjoyed and supported my style of Leadership that was non-micromanaging, proactive and Liberal Minded! Together we pooled all our talents and had a winning team that made our work experience all that much better! In the 5 Polling Stations that I was supervising there was a steady stream of Electors, (Voters) during the first morning rush and during the day the voters came in waves. Until the early evening when there was a large crowd of electors who came to vote from 5 p.m. until almost closing (at 9:30 p.m.) As I predicted, it was a tight race between Liberal Pam Damoff, (who eventually won the Federal seat) and Conservative Effie Triantafilopoulos who came in a fairly close second. They were the only two Candidates who sent Scrutineers to see me and obtain "Bingo-Sheets" during the 12 hours we were open to take votes. My opinion on any election is how many votes a Candidate obtains and in the Federal case which party got what number of votes. Here is the breakdown of actual votes each party got, and not concerning ourselves with the number of seats won to each party.

Liberal Party-6,928,514 or 39.5% of the total vote

Conservative Party-5,597,565 or 31.9% of the total vote

NDP Party-3,460,288 or 19.7% of the total vote

Green Party-605,637 or 3.5% of the total vote

BQ Party-818,652 or 4.7% of the total vote

Congratulations to all the "winners" of seats in the House of Commons, re-elected and new Members of Parliament, it was a long and hard race!

PUBLIC NOTICE! I have been hired by Elections Canada as a Central Poll Supervisor, (CPS) for Election day October 19th, 2015! I will be at the St. John Paul II Elementary (Catholic) School on Election day from 9:30 a.m. until poll close at 9:30 p.m. (12 Hours long) I will be helping the Deputy Returning Officers, the Information Officers, Poll Clerks and the Registration Officers to keep you as happy as possible for your voting experience. We will all be working very hard and diligently to keep the voting process as efficient as possible. It is a very difficult task and we all have been through lots of training. I and all my team will be there to MAKE SURE YOUR VOTE COUNTS! So, go out and VOTE! Many people in other parts of the world die for the opportunity to vote! I have already voted on the first day of the Advance Polls. So, if you received your Voter Information Card, (VIC) in the mail please bring it with you along with your Drivers License OR two other pieces of Identification, with ONE having your current address on it. The ONLY way you cannot vote is if you have NO ID at all! Otherwise, we will make sure you can vote! We will help you along the way!

Your most Welcome! It was an honour to walk in High Heels for a great cause! (again)

My Speech for the September 21st, 2015 Oakville Town Council Meeting...With the exception of Councillor Dave Gittings who stated my affidavit should be read by Robert Swayze, (thank you Dave), the Integrity Commissioner request for an inquiry was turned down, (no surprise)

PUBLIC NOTICE! Town Council will be deciding tomorrow night at 7 p.m. (September 21st, 2015) during their monthly regular meeting at Town Hall Council Chambers, to either allow or disallow the Integrity Officer/Commissioner to read the Complaint/Affidavit I filed with the Town Clerk last week. The affidavit states that Mayor Rob Burton allegedly violated the Code of Conduct and The Social Media Guidelines when he created and published Tweets comparing our Canadian Veterans with Nazi Brownshirts and Mercenaries. Additionally, the affidavit states that The Oakville Mayor has been partisan for many years which is totally against the AMO guidelines.

Should you wish to attend this meeting and see if Town Council will reject this complaint and see how they process the public's outcry of what the Mayor did and how it affected The Town of Oakville and her citizens please take the time to be at Town Hall tomorrow. It is open to the public.

I will be there to give a 10 minute speech attempting to convince Council to vote to allow the Affidavit to be read by Commissioner Robert Swayze. Hopefully, the Councillors see the light!

My youngest son Colin received this wonderful letter from The Premier of Ontario on September 16th, 2015 (Remember, I am Non-Partisan) One can say anything about all our elected politicians and their individual ideologies, but when it comes to Music and youth they really open-up and show their personal humanities. It is fantastic to witness! My son has had one-on-one singing sessions with many political leaders including Rob Ford, Kathleen Wynne, Stephen Harper, (via letters & his CD's) Christine Elliott, Kevin Flynn, Gordon Krantz, Paul Marai, Marc Grant, Ralph Robinson, and Pam Damoff. When Colin met and sang at a function in Oakville with Mayor Rob Burton, twice, the Mayor was..Indifferent at best. (Unfortunate)

August 29th, 2015...Oakville Mayor Rob Burton has publicly compared Canadian (War) Veterans with Nazi Germany's Brown shirts and with Benito Mussolini's Black Shirted Fascism movements.

As Mayor of Oakville, Rob Burton declared on Twitter to his 8,000+ followers along with the rest of the world-wide web, that he had enough of Prime Minister Harper employing a private security company of Canadian Veterans to protect him during this year's Election campaign. He then continued on to tweet calling the Vets, "Mercenaries" and then added links to Wikipedia articles showing how Adolph Hitler and Il Duce used their "Thugs" as a protection force and asked if there were any more? (Parties doing the same thing)

Again, as Mayor of Oakville, Rob Burton was on LIVE television on the CTV and Global News Networks and at first tried to defend his remarks and tweets as nothing about our veterans but about The Federal Conservative Party and his take on how they are "breaking the rule of Law." Brad Giffen, CTV news anchor actually asked our Mayor if he was going to resign, which he stated, "no."

Under intense pressure from thousands of protests online, including an online petition calling for his resignation, all over Twitter which expanded into a Hashtag #ResignMayorBurton. The feed on this # is expanding minute by minute. Rob Burton finally apologized on CTV News LIVE on Air to all Vets, and on his Twitter account. At the beginning of this scandal The Mayor refused to apologize, but finally relented and even stated to Lorrie Goldstein, (a Toronto Sun Journalist) he was sorry that he ever said anything and he has learned his lesson. Did he learn? You and time will be the Judge of that...

Here are my thoughts on this whole mess completely created and brought down upon Rob Burton by HIMSELF.

1. How much extensive damage has Mayor Rob Burton done to Oakville and how we are now perceived by the entire world?

2. Does his Council and all 12 Municipal Ward Councillors agree or disagree with The Mayor comparing Canadian Vets with Nazi Brown Shirts and Italian Dictator Mussolini Black Shirts? They have been remarkably mute about this entire scandal.

3. Does the Corporation of The Town of Oakville and it's Staff Members agree with The Mayor's comments and tweets comparing Vets with Nazis?

4. Despite the fact that Mayor Rob Burton has now deleted all the controversial tweets and comments from his Twitter account, there have been thousands of saved screen shots and screen dumps that are now circulating all over the internet. These cannot be deleted. Who and how many additional people will be reading those disparaging tweets/comments worldwide?

I am very certain that Rob Burton will hope that this scandal will all be soon forgotten and everyone will simply move-on. (Don't count on it.) This will carry forward for the next three years to the next Election and will most likely leave a bitter taste in many people's mouths forever. The dividing lines have again been active between The Liberals, (whom Mayor Rob Burton has been publicly supporting for 9 years,) and The Conservatives. Mayor Rob Burton has single-handedly stirred a hateful pot of emotions between people during a Federal Election.

Mayor Rob Burton could NOT keep his hateful comments and tweets to himself. He always seems compelled to publicly bash everything and anything about Stephen Harper and The Conservative Party of Canada.

My main sticking point, one that I have been talking about here on my website since March 2014, is that Rob Burton AS MAYOR OF OAKVILLE is supposed to remain at all times NON-PARTISAN!

He habitually stresses his Liberal Ideology as Mayor at any given point. He simply cannot help himself AS MAYOR to expel his constant barrage of hate towards anything Conservative. This hate has finally reached it's pinnacle.

He has brought down the integrity of our beautiful Town by insulting all our Canadian military hero's throughout our history as a country. My Father fought in World War II as a Captain on a Motor Torpedo Boat and I was proud to call him a Veteran. My Mother is a survivor of the Nazi Holocaust. She is horrified at Mayor Rob Burton's comments.

How are the Firemen/women and Policemen/women of Oakville going to react to Mayor Rob Burton's political rants? They are all Brothers and Sisters with all our Canadian Veterans.

What about all the thousands of parents who have their children in the military? How are they feeling right now knowing that Oakville Mayor Rob Burton states that their children will eventually be mercenaries or Neo-Nazi's in private service after their tours of duty?

I could go on and on, but suffice it to say the damage has been done. Thanks Mayor Rob Burton for slapping us all in the face and then attempting to spin-doctor all your despicable tweets and comments. You showed your true colours to the world in the past few days. I trust you are satisfied at the results of your actions.

For the sake of further degradation against our beautiful Town of Oakville...Mayor Rob Burton should KEEP HIS POLITICAL COMMENTS, TWEETS, RANTS, and IDEOLOGY OUT OF THE PUBLIC EYE.

He should be doing the job he was asked to do by 20.7% of all Oakvillians. In my humble opinion, his one and ONLY job is to support the people of this great Town, not getting involved in any Provincial or Federal Elections, he is a publicly funded Municipal Government Official. He should be out in the field fixing our Town Roads, Upgrading the flow capacity of our aged sewer system, removing flouride from our drinking water, replacing our Ash Trees with mature Native trees, helping our neglected Downtown core of businesses, listening to ALL people of Oakville, not just a chosen few who support his Liberal Party Ideology. He should be getting our Town physically ready for more Climate Change extreme weather, helping to clean-up our polluted air-shed, helping our Harbours by listening to and doing what our Harbour Associations inform him they need, stop the endless team of Town Lawyers from litigating everyone into submission, coordinating the traffic lights to help move traffic flow, and yes, supporting all our men and woman in uniform, no matter which one they wear.

The most important factor that Mayor Rob Burton must remember is that he should STOP being a Politician and begin to being a TRUE MAYOR, for the people, by the people, and of the people.

I remind Mayor Rob Burton of very excellent quotes from a past Mayor of Oakville named HARRY BARRETT...(Who was pictured with Burton several times during the 2010 Election Campaign)

“The reason I did so well at politics is because I was never a politician.”

“I made only one promise as mayor,” he related, “I was going to redevelop the waterfront."

"I’m a firm believer that unless you give people some authority they really don’t take an interest.”

“I was a businessman. I have no sympathy for municipalities that go crying to the Feds and the Province for more money. Simply put, you’ve got to live within your means. My employees drove better cars than I did half of the time, but that was fine. That was how it was.”

So sorry for not writing here for the past 10 days...I recently passed a very painful Kidney Stone for the second time since 2003 and after having an Ultra-Sound there was a nodule discovered on my left Kidney that may or may not be cancerous. I will find out sometime next week after taking an MRI test whether or not I will have to have my Kidney removed.

Having said that, I absolutely must commend all the Excellent Emergency Doctor's and Nurses that work tirelessly at our current Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, (OTMH) These medical professionals are the backbone of what makes our healthcare services the best in Oakville and Ontario, NOT the buildings they work in...old or brand new. THEY are the foundation of care that brings about so much healing to so many thousands of our Oakville citizens, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So remember all the $2.7 Billion dollars spent on the brand new Oakville Hospital would be nothing but shining new buildings that look great but do nothing without all the professional PEOPLE who work everyday INSIDE all those very expensive hospital rooms. So the next time you are in our current Hospital thank all those people that are bringing you health care that keeps us all alive and well.

I was unconditionally told from many nurses that when the new Oakville Hospital opens this coming December 2015, there will not be enough staff to service all the hundred's of thousands of new square footage in that new Hospital.

Additionally, I was also told from several nurses and staff that they are very upset that they cannot work Full-Time, that they are restricted from being able to work as full-time employees. Several of these current staff members told me that they plan on taking up this issue with Federal Liberal Candidate John Oliver, former CEO and President of Halton Healthcare Services. John Oliver was paid an annual salary of $477, 689.76 plus benefits, for many years along with a huge "Golden Handshake" when he retired in 2013 for "personal reasons" from the healthcare services organization he helped to build here in Oakville and Milton.

How is it that Mr. Oliver is now a multi-millionaire and his former employees are complaining to me that they can barely make ends meet for their families because they are not allowed to work full time?

These people working in our Hospital who gave me so much care, compassion and exemplary service in my time of pain and suffering are not allowed to earn a decent salary while John Oliver is paid close to half a million dollars a year? Shameful! I had to suffer through a very painful Kidney Stone to learn all this information.

I hope that MP Candidate John Oliver learns how to be humble enough to address his former staff's financial needs and actually follow through on his promise to take care of the Middle Class.

That Mayor Rob Burton spends over $1.5 Million a year on "Political Governance."

He is using your tax dollars to ensure that everything surrounding the Politics of his Office and his Council are all looking good to the general public. There is an entire department with many staff members dedicated to holding account that everything involving what is said about how our Town is governed looks good to the outside world.

This political governance extends to our local media. I have been informed that Mayor Rob Burton has threatened numerous lawsuits against local reporters that he felt published negative articles about him or his Council.

Rob Burton, a former Journalist himself knows the power of the media and how they can and do affect the public mindset. I received phone calls informing me that Rob Burton exerts absolute control over what is published about his Municipal Government. Citizens have complained to me that they are tired of reading article after article from Mayor Burton on his viewpoints, or his perspectives on topics that really he should not be making public statements about.

Should the Mayor wish to inform our citizens of Oakville factual information, public service announcements, local accomplishments, and support of positive outcomes concerning local issues, then by all means do so, however, inserting his take on issues that in no way are topics that a local Mayor should be discussing in the public domain should be immediately discontinued.

His continued support of the Liberal Party AS MAYOR of Oakville is simply in very poor taste. In his case, it just so happens to be the Liberal Party of Canada that he believes is the only political party that is worthy to govern all Canadian's. I object, as do many other people, to his public support as Mayor to ANY political party! He is suppose to be Non-Partisan at all times as Mayor...Period! Mayor Rob Burton has been an active participant in engaging the constant support towards the Liberal Party with your tax dollars and in his influences as Mayor. This must immediately stop!

The media in all it various forms should be allowed to perform their exceptional duties free from Mayor Rob Burton's tactics of control. We are suppose to live in a free and democratic Town. Which means free from The Mayor's office influencing how and when the media informs all our residents of what is happening in and around our Town and free from his viewpoints that are outside his sphere of "Political Governance."

Over the past three weeks, my family visited three major shopping Malls. One in Mississauga, (Square One Mall,) the other in Toronto, (Yorkdale Mall,) and the last one in our Town of Oakville, (Oakville Place Mall.) We visited them all on Friday afternoons.

Square One Mall was jammed packed with so many shoppers that we had to drive around several times to locate a parking spot. Inside the Mall it was equally as busy and the 360+ stores were crammed with buyers. We had just finished a few hours of fun at Playdium, a huge arcade gaming centre that caters to youth and their parents, (a place we could use in Oakville very badly!) After walking around Square One Mall we took in an amazing dinner at Richtree Natural Market and headed home.

Yorkdale Shopping Centre was almost identical in that we had to drive around several times to locate a parking space and when we entered through Chapters/Indigo it was virtually standing room only! Inside the beautiful fully renovated Mall it was also jammed packed with customers. Yorkdale Mall caters to mostly the more expensive minded clientele with their 240+ stores. After buying a huge lunch at The Pickle Barrel Restaurant, another badly needed business that Oakville should acquire, we walked around looking at retailers that might sell Nintendo Amiibo's. Despite the fact that most of the retail stores were in the Upper Class price ranges the mall was very busy with buying patrons.

It should be noted here that both these Malls were also undergoing huge expansions. Yorkdale was in the construction phase of adding an additional 300,000 square feet of retail space to the tune of $331 Million along with Square One adding another 195,000 square feet of retail space to the tune of $320 Million. New anchor stores are being added to these Malls as well.

Now...when we visited Oakville Place Mall we had no trouble finding a parking space at all. When we entered through The Bay Store it was sparsely populated with customers and when we made it through to the Mall itself it was again quite underpopulated with buyers. The customers that were in the Mall..most of them had little to no bags on their person. There is NO planned expansion of Oakville Place mall at all. To the newest owners credit, (Rio-Can) there is an ongoing renovation to the tune of $30 million with the replacement of Shoppers Drug Mart with Pusateri's Fine Foods. However, with the exception of Rio Can hoping to bring in a re-merchandizing of existing stores, there is not much going on at Oakville Place, and the low number of shoppers proves that.

All this and the neglect of our Downtown core proves what I have been hearing for the past 17 months...that Rob Burton is anti-business and he never helps owners of businesses to succeed. He is quite successful at raising business taxes though. This needs to stop immediately. Our beautiful Town deserves to be able to succeed in business like it had in years past.

It appears the only industry Rob Burton wants to expand upon in our Town is in Healthcare Services. While these kind of businesses bring good paying jobs, for the most part they are taxpayer supported. In other words, Rob Burton is very supportive of Government supported jobs in Healthcare but does not concern himself with private enterprise businesses. He forgets that the bulk of the taxes that support the Healthcare workers come from private business and their consumers.

This was the card given to me at a retail gift shop in Niagara Falls Ontario. It supposedly explains the additional Municipal Retail Sale Tax over and above the 13% HST that everyone, including American tourists have to pay for any product or service attraction they purchase in Niagara Falls, Canada. It sort of lays blame on the retailers for this tax. That it was their idea and their initiative to impose this additional "fee" (tax) to pay for Fireworks! However, when you actually ask and speak with the sales clerks and owners of these businesses they tell you a very different story! They claim that their MAYOR came up with this idea and he implemented it. Some even declare that this tax is ILLEGAL and ALL stated to me that if you know about this extra tax you can request up-front to the sales clerk that you do NOT want to pay this additional tax and they will not charge you at the time of purchase or if you missed seeing it after paying they will refund you the amount you paid upon request.

This extra Municipal Tax will bring in millions of dollars to UNSUSPECTING customers! What a scam! It is a hidden tax in that there is no signs or notifications anywhere in stores or online that inform the customer that this tax even exists! You only discover it if you look at you receipt AFTER your purchase is complete!

Now, Niagara Falls Canada is a HUGE tourism attraction to 12 million people every year! They have the numbers to use to impose this extra tax to say to the permanent citizens of the city that it can work because for the most part non-residents will be paying it upfront. While as a taxpayer, I requested my dollars to be refunded because I believe that we are overtaxed on everything already, I can see how that this Municipality will profit from the massive numbers of tourists paying this tax.

Now...our Mayor of Oakville, Rob Burton would love to impose this same kind of additional tax on tourists to our town. The big problem is that we do NOT have the 12 million people coming to visit our town every year! In fact, our Downtown core is losing more and more tourists every year and businesses are still closing their doors after years of neglect by our Mayor to help stimulate our economy. But in true fashion to this Mayor of close to nine years, he has a spending affinity that never ceases and he has to attempt to devise new ways to bring in more and more taxes. I would not be surprised at all if Rob Burton has spoken with Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati to see if he could add this additional tax onto invoices for all retailers here in Oakville. Oh, joy to our beleaguered Oakville business owners who have been barely surviving through the past nine years already. Oh...and the Municipal Government in Niagara Falls will tell you they get nothing of this additional tax, if that is true then prove it with opening up your "books" and showing zero dollars flowing from this business "fee."

Many Thanks to The Oakville Chamber of Commerce and all their Sponsors for organizing and hosting that important event! More Thanks to President John Sawyer for all his hard and diligent work, another real class act!

Many Thanks to MPP and Labour Minister Kevin Flynn for this letter and for being such a Class Act!

On July 31st, 2015 Mayor Rob Burton took once again to the Editorial front pages of the Oakville Beaver Newspaper, (who endorsed Rob Burton in 2014 but who also endorsed Ann Mulvale in 2010,) stating that Oakville is of sound fiscal health and not to worry, he and his Council have everything well in hand. He didn't say this verbatim, but he might as well have simply said, "go about your daily lives and do not ask any questions of us, we know what we are doing and everything is just fine!"

My one burning question to our Mayor is simply, "WHY?" Why did you feel the need to inform the hard working taxpayer and citizens of Oakville that "Oakville's fiscal health ranks No. 1?" As per Rob Burton, Toronto Professor Enid Slack measured Oakville's finances and ranked our Town as number 1! Why is Mayor Rob Burton telling you about this? And more importantly why now? Is he getting phone calls, or emails about our debt? Our property taxes?

Or perhaps is it because he and Regional Chair of Halton, Gary Carr, recently announced the need to get the Province to allow Rob Burton, his Council and the region to yet again, raise Development charges, presumably to 100% from the current 60% to raise much needed cash from new developments all over Halton. I publicly stated in 2014 at the Ward 3 Mayoral Debate that Rob Burton and Alan Elgar wanted to raise the Development charges to 100%. They will say that they want to force Builders/Developers to pay for infrastructure for all the new home developments among all the other new building going on all over Oakville. In the recent 500 page Oakville budget, it was stated that the Town is EXPECTING more revenue from new developments to offset the increased spending for everything else in our Town. In other words, Rob Burton and Gary Carr are counting on more and more growth in land development to help them balance their books. This from our Mayor who for years has been telling us he is the anti-growth, anti development Mayor! Another complete reversal!

Many years ago, we had another career politician telling Ontario citizens that he was running yearly surpluses and little to no public debt. All at the same time that he was charging $400 a plate at dinner engagements to wealthy Ontarian's to hear him speak. His name was David Peterson. He was Premier of Ontario for over a decade. After he was defeated by Bob Rae's NDP party it was revealed that the surpluses were in actuality a three billion dollar deficit! For years he was stating that everything was just fine, don't worry, all is rosy, sound familiar?

At the outset, it may sound as if raising development charges again is a good idea. So long as the Real Estate market is healthy and prices keep going up, and buyers keep purchasing new homes in Oakville and commercial properties are built, the extra cash will keep flowing into Rob Burton's council. However, the developers will NOT simply absorb the increased development charges against their profits or on their business expenses, they will raise the prices of their new homes and the Purchaser's of these new developments will pay the increased development charges.

This will seem to be working well enough so long as homes are being sold. However, as soon as there is any downturn in the Real Estate market, and it will come eventually, history has proven that dozens of times over, that will be when Rob Burton and his council will have to borrow more money to keep the so-called, "services" at the same level because the development money will be greatly reduced. Rob Burton has an affinity to spend our money and he has proven in the past nine years that he does not ever reduce expenses or the annual outlay of cash, so he either has to borrow more or obtain more cash from other sources. Because he has been telling you for years that he will not increase property taxes more than inflation. But rest assured that Rob Burton will introduce new ways to tax you...Municipal Land Transfer tax, Municipal Retail sales tax, (which has already been implemented in Niagara Falls.)

Regional and Town Councillor Jeff Knoll recently stated that all citizens of Wards 4, 5 and 6 need to complain more against the Aircraft noise. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? After 3 years of so-called negotiations with NAV and the Federal Government, after years of task force and Committee chairing, along with the MAG (Mayor's Advisory Group,) telling North Oakville residents they are not being "noisy" enough is a very poor excuse for the absolute FAILURE of Councillor Knoll and what has been a serious issue since 2012.

The hundred's of thousands of your tax dollars have been completely wasted since 2012 in useless meetings and airport photo-ops and now Councillor Knoll has a local Pilot informing us after extensive research not to expect any real changes in what has been an ongoing problem for the past three years! If Councillor Knoll really cared about this issue he would do whatever it takes to end the constant air traffic that flies over our heads on a daily basis. Including making trips to Ottawa and demanding an audience with the Transport Minister and the PMO. Instead he tweets himself with a selfie at the Airport looking at low noise aircraft! Wow! That's it?!

Then to add insult to injury Councillor Knoll also strongly stated that this issue is a Federal Government problem and that the Town of Oakville and the Region of Halton have NOTHING to do with the aircraft flying over Wards 4, 5, and 6 and he and Council have no jurisdiction over anything pertaining to this problem! Great redirection of absolute FAILURE. Through two election campaigns, one a general election in 2014 and another with a By-Election as campaign manager, Councillor Knoll stated that he was on this issue front and centre, that he was proud to be chair of committee's, task forces and the MAG and he was going to help solve this issue for his constituents. What a complete flip-flop! Now, he is telling us all to do the work for him because he has been completely unsuccessful.

It is time to create a Citizen's Task Force with NO Politicians involved at all.

It is time to get action put to words. For the past three years, Jeff Knoll, and Rob Burton have been wasting valuable time and money on words with no actions. They have had their chance to do something about low flying jet aircraft polluting our airshed and damaging our "Liveable Oakville." A concerned citizen, David Specic, actually told the MAG at Town Hall that he was thinking about moving out of Oakville! How many more people have to move out of Oakville because of in-actions from our Mayor and his Council? It's bad enough that people have already moved out of Oakville because of poor tourism, too high taxes, lack of business opportunities, especially for our youth and unlimited development growth.

Before it is too late to do anything further, I would like to ask any and all citizens of Wards 4, 5, and of course Ward 6 to contact me here via e-mail or telephone call to begin an immediate citizen's task force against air traffic. This new task force can affect immediate change and I am more than willing to help in any way I can, even it it means travelling to Ottawa. I am not saying that I need to be in charge just that to affect real results in the shortest amount of time we need to contact each other to begin a group that can start real negotiations. The only item that Jeff Knoll made sense in is that there is a pending Federal Election on it's way and perhaps as a Citizens Task Force we will get more traction in the months following the October Election. The "power" of the people worked in Oakville for elimination of cell phone towers and of course the despised Gas Power Plants. It can be accomplished again! I have already had good contacts with the PMO already. Contact me and let's get the planes out of our backyards once and for all!

So another recent Oakville Beaver short article informs Oakville citizens about how Rob Burton's Council has been unanimous in supporting a motion that endorses David Suzuki and his Blue Dot Campaign. Which included...

1.The Right to breath clean air

2.The right to drink clean water

3.The right to consume safe food

4.The right to access nature

5.The right to know about pollutants and contaminants into the local environment

6.The right to participate in decision-making that will affect the environment

No-one would not support these initiatives, these are right's that everyone on our planet respect and want and for some hope to attain. These core elements are a no-brainer. Having said that, here in Oakville...

1. Clean Air is being mismanaged in that Rob Burton and his Council are allowing massive amounts of diesel smoke to be emitted into our airshed through all the transit buses and the new hospital smoke stacks. (Even the Ford Canada factory had to filter their huge smokestacks years ago!)

2. Clean water is being mismanaged in that Rob Burton promised to remove all the tons of fluoride being dumped into our local drinking water and then he flip-flopped and voted to keep it all in. (which we are still all drinking today.)

5. This is problematic as number 1.

6. Rob Burton allows citizens to participate in decision making that only he deems fit worthy enough. (Which usually supports the outcomes he desires.)

Mayor Rob Burton has no love lost with CEO and Founder of Mattamy Homes, Peter Gilgan. Their absolute dislike for each other has been in the public eye for many years. Burton was very happy to see Gilgan move his HQ from Oakville to Toronto. I do not understand how Burton can go to Gilgan's annual softball charity event with so much animosity toward each other. Having said that, I am sure that Mayor Burton made certain that he got his two cents worth in the recent headline about how the new hospital has "Peter Gilgan Patient Care Centre" on the tower of the new building. It must infuriate him that after Gilgan donated $10 Million of his own personal money to help purchase much needed new equipment that the Halton Healthcare Services and the Oakville Hospital Foundation decided to name one of the three towers in Gilgan's honour. Peter Gilgan made hundred's of millions of dollars building thousands of new homes in Oakville over the past 25 years and he was giving back to the Town that helped make him a billionaire. (I won't talk about what his critics say about the quality of his homes, that is another topic of discussion.) What is really disturbing and should put frowns on the citizen's of Oakville was Rob Burton using your tax dollars to compete against Peter Gilgan. Our Mayor stated that his Council was the largest donor of all donors with it's $130 Million cheque to be given this year towards the construction of this new hospital. Did he forget that the $130 Million is to be paid on the backs of hard working Oakville residents? Did he forget that there will be 5% interest accumulating on the $130 million as well, over the next 30 years? Which actually means that his Council has made a $200 million donation! Our Mayor talks as if this were his own personal money being donated like Peter Gilgan actually paid from his own bank account. Shameful...and on it goes.

Have you driven on Roads in Wards 4 and 5 lately? More specifically on Upper Middle Road, on Glenashton Road and on Dorval Road? It is as if one is driving on an actual train track! Steady& constant bump after bump after bump, (from the expansion/contraction ruts.) If you listen carefully it sounds almost exactly like driving on a train track.

I thought with the long overdue return of the world famous (Glen Abbey) Canadian Open Golf Tournament that at the very least Dorval Road would be repaved, given that thousands of International visitors would be in Oakville and driving or being escorted to and from the Fairways. Dorval Road has so many train track ruts in it, it should be an embarrassment to Gary Carr and Rob Burton, but I suppose not.

Glenashton Drive is also a train track road but there is an interesting twist, on several areas of that Road, there are huge dips that swing you and your vehicle down and then up as if you are literally in a ship on the ocean in a fierce storm! If it was not so much of an embarrassing situation in our affluent town, it would be very humorous!

These roads and so many more in our town have need of repaving and repair that has simply not happened in over two years, that it should be brought to the Provincial and Federal Transport Ministers for investigation. Our Municipal leaders state they are spending our money on our roads but it is too little too late. What is more interesting is that these train track roads found their way to get their lines repainted! The roads are a disaster but the lines are pristine!

Facts and Figures about the July 13th, 2015 Oakville Ward 6 By-Election...

The "Winner," Natalia Lishchyna, garnered 2110 votes out of 18998 Eligible Voters, that represents only 11.10% of the popular vote, or in other words, Eleven Percent of Ward 6 citizens elected a new Councillor! If she were a student in my old College, and received 11% on her final exam, she would have got an "F" grade and failed the test! However, in Politics she can claim she got 51.34% of the only 4112 total votes that were cast in this By-election. Fifty one percent sounds so much better than only eleven percent, doesn't it, and the media reports that figure, not the much smaller number.

The other big factor in this by-election is the very low turnout, at 21.64% or in other words almost 80% of the total voters in the Ward DID NOT VOTE AT ALL. Why?? July vacations? Some yes...But when I was asking people in the Ward about this By-Election many told me that they would not vote because even if they do...NOTHING CHANGES. Wow! That just blew me away.

Is that endorsement of nothing changes true? Yes and No.

The change being that a new Councillor has obtained her seat in Council and how she votes on Council will amount to change or no change. My prediction is that Natalia will amount to very little change within Council and how they and our Mayor do things, especially with your money. Her entire campaign was non-descriptive and offered only what Ward 6 citizens already know. During the Chamber of Commerce debate she was even quoting statements directly from what we have been hearing from our Mayor for years about "Livable Oakville." Regional Town Councillor for Ward 6 Tom Adams stated that he was pleased with Natalia becoming the newest Councillor as "she ran on a platform that is consistent with what we have been working on." Given that quote from Adams, not much is going to change, which 2110 voters wanted in Ward 6, no change.

In 2014 during the General Election, there were 5811 votes cast in Ward 6, of which 4969 were for Max Khan. The turnout then was only 30.5% or 70% did NOT vote! Max Khan was elected with 26.15% of the popular vote, low, but a lot higher than the 11% for Natalia.

The entire point is that few people put the "winners" into a very influential position of power that affects a great deal more people that do NOT vote! If only 10% additional people actually voted then the entire system of few doing the most would change.

Now that this By-Election is concluded, there are questions that should and need to be answered...

In a few weeks all Ward 6 Candidates are to file their Election campaign expenses and disclose who donated money to their campaigns. It will be very very interesting to read how much Natalia spent on her campaign, how close was she to the spending limit of $21,121.10. Most important, who she declares as political contributors to her campaign financially. Her campaign manager, active, sitting Ward 5 Regional Town Councillor Jeff Knoll... did she pay him any monies to be her manager? And if so, how much?

Remember, last year Councillor Jeff Knoll received thousands of dollars from Developers/Builders towards his 2014 re-election as Regional Councillor against Ann Mulvale. Some of these Developers are companies that I used to work for! Councillor Knoll states a lot about how he helps to control development growth and create green-space yet he accepts thousands of dollars in donations from builders who want to develop as much land as possible. Did his winning new Councillor in Ward 6 accept monies from these same Developers? Where do their true loyalties lie? Time will tell in her financial statements.

Thank you so very much to all for the over 24,000 visits to my website since March 2014. (too bad those visits couldn't be votes!)

This e-mail I received at 11:30 p.m. on July 13th, 2015 speaks for itself. What an absolute mature and insightful young man Jon is...he is our future and he and thousands more like him will help make the necessary changes that are so desperately needed. Thank you Jon!! (I removed his IP address and e-mail for privacy.)

Today is Voting day from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Please Vote! It counts that your voice is heard through the Electoral Process. Having said that, while I do not have any expectations, there are "Front Runners." Candidates Natalia Lishchyna and Mansoor Khan are the perceived expected winners.

Having said that, if you vote for me, you are helping to vote for open and transparent Municipal Government, Fiscal sustainability and fiscal responsibility, Real and true controlled growth, fresh new ideas that will only benefit Ward 6 citizens, a Councillor that is not clouded by Liberal or Conservative party Ideology, a Councillor that will not vote in favour of any motion that is against what Ward 6 residents have said "no" towards, a Councillor who is not afraid to go to bat for any resident of Ward 6 who has problems with The Mayor's Office or our Regional Government or The Province of Ontario, a Councillor who returns all calls, answers all e-mails, and takes stock of all infrastructure around the Ward every week, a Councillor who will make motions that have gone into oblivion, ie: Fluoride, General Audit, Integrity Commissioner complaints, property tax reform, and reform program based budgets.

Front Runners have lost elections in the past and many "Little-guys/girls" have won elections in surprise votes. They are the Candidates who make real change for the people, by the people.

Thank you very much for all the thousands of people who have visited this website, much appreciated!

Congratulations to all our Oakville and Canadian Pan-Am Games athletes, you are all so very hard working and your efforts are so well deserved especially when you are on the Medal Podium! So many of you are also qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games! Well done to all of you!!

If you need a lift to any Polling Station to vote call me or e-mail me and I will be happy to drive you to a Polling Location!

Did you know that since 2006, The Town of Oakville has spent almost $250 Million on our Transit? WOW! And that is mostly money that was lost, not revenue sourced! What we could have done with all that money? Many many things!

Did you also know that The Town of Oakville has a single Procurement Program for purchasing Oakville Transit buses? They buy our very expensive diesel buses from a single source only?? No bidding, no negotiating, just going to one company and buying new buses. Did you know that this kind of process is a clear violation of The North American Free Trade Agreement, (NAFTA?) This must stop immediately. A motion needs to be made from a Councillor who cares about taxpayer dollars!

Is it enough to be a good Councillor to simply state, I know all the other Councillor's already and will work well with them? In my opinion, you need to work with what the people of Ward 6 want and need. Not just simply falling into the Council Family Fold and become another member of Agreement to everything that you know is happening inside the Municipal Government and constantly agreeing and approving each and every motion brought forward. A Councillor has to stand-up for what's RIGHT and to be in opposition to what he or she knows is wrong and to take a stand on behalf of their Ward and for ALL citizen's of Oakville. We are not living in the "Truman-Show!" When we know that the Town's financial future prospects are getting to a point of no return, when we know that there are secret and private deals happening, when we know that Provincial Laws are being broken and circumvented, then we cannot just sit and state, "Don't talk negative, everything is just fine!" A Councillor has the power to say, "No, I will not stand by and do nothing!"

Thanks to all who honked and waved and smiled in support! Much appreciated!

On Ward 6 Corners! People honked and waved in support! Thanks!!

Out and about on Ward 6 Corners, many people waved and honked in support, Thanks!

Out on Ward 6 Street Corners! Many people honked and waved! Thank you!!

Given the recent events with the Local Union 183, (a Union I am personally familiar with) and their well-placed grievance with Oakville Hydro via The Town of Oakville, where they are only asking to be paid the same hourly salaries as their co-workers in Burlington and Milton, I strongly foresee in the next 2-3 years an announcement that Our Oakville Hydro will be Sold-Off to the highest bidder. It only makes sense given the huge amounts of profit Hydro takes in along with the $9 Million it pays out to The Town of Oakville. As our already massive long term debt continues to accelerate and rise, the huge temptation to sell off Oakville Hydro will become more and more attractive as it could potentially pay down a huge amount of that Non-Tax payer debt all in one shot. Look for the announcement but it will not come in a Headline, it will be buried on some back page. But it will come, eventually.

I never received any response from The Mayor after I mailed this to his home. (Ironic about what I said then in comparison to what has happened since April 2014, such as Councillor Khan's passing.)

For the July 7th, 2015 Oakville Chamber Candidate Meeting

From the July 7th Chamber Candidate Meeting, Only Allowed 2 and 3 minutes for each Statement

Last year during the General Election the Media reported that they received letters from readers taking great offence at the Endorsement Campaign. One reader simply stated..."I don't need a paper to tell me how to vote. I need a paper to report." Well, this By-Election appears to be going yet again, the way of Endorsements. Mayor Rob Burton has been public (again) about who he supports along with several active Councillors who have been quoted by Candidates as endorsing their Candidacy. (Including The Ford of Canada Union) Is it correct to assume that endorsements work to help residents to choose? I hope not. Not because I want to be endorsed but because there is so much more to a person and their Campaign that just their endorsements. There are issues that need to be addressed and taken care of. Endorsements will not bring forth solutions to your needs. In my opinion they are self serving. Just saying.

Mayor Rob Burton wants to spend another $150 Million Plus to build even more Rec Centres in and around Ward 6. I would like to propose we instead Re-Build our almost non-existent Tourism market and build an arena that could host an NHL Expansion team right in Oakville Ward 6! Expensive? Yes. But could it be done? Absolutely! We have the land, the connections to wealthy individuals and groups of businesses, along with the love of the game of Hockey. Our Prime Minister has tried to get another NHL team to southern Ontario for years. Some may say, it is far fetched, but it would be a huge opportunity for Oakville. The massive revenue stream for Ward 6 would be enormous. When not in use for NHL games it could easily be utilized by all Ward 6 residents for many activities year round! As your Councillor, I would ask you if this would be something you would be in favour or not? I would then motion our Mayor and Council to immediately look into the viability of this new feature. Tourism in Oakville has been neglected for many years under this current Administration. There are so many innovations we can initiate into Ward 6 that would benefit so many people.

According to my research there are two Oakville Councillors who have different Political Party affiliations yet they have worked well together for a number of years. Councillor for Ward 2, Pam Damoff, (Liberal) and Regional and Town Councillor for Ward 2, Cathy Duddeck, (Conservative) have proven that different ideologies can and do work harmoniously. My hats off to both of them in showing that service to the people trumps Political labels!

"My understanding is that Town council is supposed to be non-partisan. So for me what is important is that the best decisions are being made for our town and our community." (Direct quote from Candidate Natalia Lishchyna via Inside Halton.com)

"I'm not even sure I could support her if she was the nominated candidate, even though I'm a life-long member of the Conservative Party." (Direct Quote from Regional and Town Councillor Jeff Knoll, via CBC News)

"A long-standing Liberal Party Member and Campaign volunteer, he has also worked effectively with people of other political stripes at town council to deliver what Oakville residents need to flourish." (Direct Quote about Max Khan from Oakville.com) "Khan has been involved in Oakville's Provincial and Federal Liberal associations for 14 years, and he currently serves as the director of the Oakville Federal Liberal Association." (Direct Quote from Inside Halton.com)

"(Pam) Damoff is a long-time Liberal with more than 27 years of financial and investment banking experience gained on Bay Street and by running her own consulting business." (Direct quote from Inside Halton.com)

"Knoll who considers himself non-partisan on Town council but has past affiliations with the Conservatives, said there is a need to be wary of partisanship on council. He said he switched from party politics to municipal government because it is non-partisan. It is about providing service, such as waste disposal, rather than creating policy that the party must follow that he said may not serve a politician's constituents in the best way.

However, he said HE'S NOTICED SLIGHT TRACES OF PARTISANSHIP ON THE CURRENT TERM OF COUNCIL. He identifies Burton, Johnson, Khan, Chapin and Elgar as Liberals. I'd say there's definitely a voting block and everybody that's Liberal is part of that block. They vote almost always together, he said." (Direct quotes from Oakville Beaver, Oct. 2010)

To state that Council is strictly Non-Partisan is HIGHLY DEBATABLE!

It is a very well known fact that Rob Burton is a staunch, loyal Liberal Party Member and he uses his Official Office and Title to promote the Liberals at any given moment. It would disturb me if Rob Burton advocated for ANY party as Mayor but in his case he favours the Liberals. He tweets in their favour, he blasts the Conservatives and NDP at any given moment, he has been an elite speaker at events for Liberal Functions, He endorses all Liberal Party Candidates publicly as Mayor for any Election and he has directed Oakville Taxpayer funds ($17,500) through Oakville Hydro to the Liberal Party. No-one would have a problem if Rob Burton was supporting the Liberal Party as Rob Burton private citizen. But as Mayor of Oakville promoting the Liberal Party is simply wrong.

I have never been a member of any political party in my life. My Personal ideology is Conservative for Fiscal Policies and Liberal for all Social Policies. If I had a party to be a member of, it would be for the "LMC" Party or Liberal-Minded Conservative Party. There are "good and bad" people in all things, especially in Politics. I am happy to work with all Councillor's and even the Mayor with no Party ideology getting in the way. My thought processes are always on the basis of, "What can I do that benefits the residents of Ward 6?" Nothing else will cloud my mind.

Please keep in mind on all Advance Voting days and on By-Election day July 13th, 2015 that your vote COUNTS. Please keep in mind when you vote that this By-Election was brought on by the very unfortunate and tragic death of Councillor Max Khan. As a Candidate of this By-Election I would have preferred to see Max live on to fulfill his term and even to go on as a Liberal Candidate in the upcoming Federal Election this October. Max did not support me in my Mayoral Candidacy but I respected his democratic right to make an informed decision.

Having said that, you as a Ward 6 resident, citizen, homeowner, and taxpayer should keep in mind that this By-Election is NOT based on one sole issue. This Election is not just about voting for the Candidate who lives in Ward 6. If you vote for a Candidate based on simply the fact that they live in your Ward, you really are doing yourself a disservice.

Your new Councillor should be a person who understands that Ward 6 residents do not live in a glass bubble. Your new Councillor should be aware of and understand and be experienced with the outside influences that can and do affect your Ward. Look at it this way...If you want to see your new Councillor affect any meaningful change that you want to happen, then your new Councillor has to be able to be a Warrior and a Diplomat with Mayor Rob Burton, with Regional Chair Gary Carr, with Toronto Mayor John Tory, with Provincial Premier Kathleen Wynne, and yes, even with Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Your new Councillor should be a person who will stand-up for all your rights and privileges and say "No," when and if necessary, and to say, "Yes," when and if necessary. This By-Election should not be a Popularity Contest. This is a serious job that needs a person who will devote 100% of their time to Solving Issues quickly. Please remember when you vote in this By-Election you are voting to create another New Politician. You do not want someone who is backed by one Party Ideology. You want someone who will embrace ALL Political Parties or Ideologies that will enhance and support the needs and ambitions of ALL Ward 6 Residents. You want your new Councillor to be able to feel comfortable around ALL people of ALL faiths. You want your new Councillor to be innovative and have Fresh Thinking ideas. You want a new Councillor to be fluid not static and stuck. You want a new Councillor who is quick to respond to your inquires, who calls you back right away, who will come to your door to deliver something without it being an Election, who returns ALL your e-mails in a timely fashion. You want a new Councillor who will commit to you without having the ambition to move "Upwards" to a new Position in the Political Sphere of Influence. You want a new Councillor who is Proactive and Not Reactive. Someone who will solve issues before they even Become an Issue! Please keep this thought in mind when you vote...It might be very possible that a Candidate who does NOT live in Ward 6 could very possibly work even harder for YOU because they have more to Prove to you that they are worthy of the job as your Councillor. I believe strongly in all that I wrote above. This is MY Pledge, not some vague Promise, but Pledge to YOU!

HAPPY ADVANCE POLLING Day today! Saturday June 20th, 2015! You can vote today in the first advance Poll until 5 p.m. at The Iroquois Ridge Community Centre, 1051 Glenashton Drive or at our Town Hall Building, 1225 Trafalgar Road. If you need any help please let me know!

A Municipality is considered a "Lower-Tier" form of Government and is subject to all Laws and Government Control by The Province and then by The Federal Government in Ottawa. Even as Councillor of Ward 6, I would Push Hard to obtain additional "Powers" from The Premier of Ontario that would allow more areas of our Town to be administered by our Municipality. Not additional Political Powers, but more infrastructure abilities, more methods of helping to balance our debt, (tax-payer and non-tax payer supported) not just collection of Property Taxes, (not to mean more taxes on our Citizens,) but new ways to bring in revenues that are so desperately needed now more than ever.

The Staff at The Town of Oakville that do so much of the "Grunt-Work" are the backbone of our Town. They do so much behind the scenes work that we tend to not really understand or appreciate at times what they actually do. Having said that, I believe that any inside or even outside Political Influences or Party Ideologies should be eliminated from Town Staff work. They should always feel free to question or refute any work that they are told to do that is unethical or contravenes any Laws. Town Staff should ALWAYS be able to make recommendations to The Mayor and all Councillors without worrying about any Political Backlash. As Councillor of Ward 6, I would be an Open Ear to all Town Staff members and always advocate that they can work in an open and transparent environment.

Service area responsibilities

Town of Oakville Council:

  • Local planning and zoning
  • Local storm sewers
  • Local roads, streets and sidewalks
  • Local transit services
  • Libraries
  • Local museums
  • Fire protection
  • Local parks and recreation services
  • Collection of taxes

Remembering that all Municipalities including The Town of Oakville are Governed by The Province of Ontario. The Premier of Ontario is The "Prime Minister" of the Province and sets forth so many items and Laws that The Town of Oakville along with Ward 6 must follow. As Councillor of Ward 6, I would go to The Premier when and if necessary to relay and negotiate any needs that are not being met by The Mayor for and on behalf of The Citizens of Ward 6. To circumvent the Laws of the Land by adding Procedures to The Town's Operations is not in my view an effective method of Control. Having said that, the Official Role of Council, (an extension of a Councillor) is as follows...

The Municipal Act, 2001, Part VI – Practices and Procedures Section 224, 225, 226.1 states as follows:

224. It is the role of council:

  1. to represent the public and to consider the well-being and interests of the municipality;
  2. to develop and evaluate the policies and programs of the municipality;
  3. to determine which services the municipality provides;
  4. to ensure that administrative policies, practices and procedures and controllership policies, practices and procedures are in place to implement the decisions of council;
    1. to ensure the accountability and transparency of the operations of the municipality, including the activities of the senior management of the municipality;
  5. to maintain the financial integrity of the municipality; and
  6. to carry out the duties of council under this or any other Act.

To be a Councillor in Ward 6, One should "Counsel" In other words, be available at all times to give service, advice and recommendations to the people. To Help the residents with the goings-on of their Ward and to be an effective Communicator of The People of the Ward. This communication should never be one sided in that it has to be representative of the needs of the people of the Ward. Not simply telling the citizens of the Ward the dictates of the Town of Oakville. Politics, in my mind should never be a function of a Councillor. He or she should bear in mind that with the job comes functions that would not be considered "normal" in other types of careers. You really have to be not only a people person as Councillor but also a Warrior and a Diplomat at the same time. Listening skills are so important in any job but more important as a Councillor. If your Councillor is not listening to you and understanding your concern and then following-up right away then he or she is not doing what they were elected to do. A Councillor is the liaison to empower the citizens of the Ward, not the other way around. A Councillor is not "In-Power" he or she is only a vessel of the "Power of The People."

For the past nine years my Property Taxes, Oakville Hydro Rates, Cable T.V. and Natural Gas invoices have INCREASED without any abatement. On average, the increase has been around 17% spread out over the nine years between everything. My family income has increased ZERO percent. I have lived in my present home for the past 14 years, and back in February of 2014 I was stating here that we have very expensive garbage pick-up since that service has not really changed but my tax bill sure has. It began at $2900.00 a year in 2001 and is now very close to $5600 a year! I have had to make some drastic cutbacks to the way we live over the years to keep up with not only rising inflation but also all the increases in Taxes and Utilities. (Do not get me started on the rising cost of food, especially meats!) As a family we still lead a good life in Oakville through hard, determined work and a "there are many people much worse-off than us," attitude. When we talk about labels, Socio-Economic labels to be more precise, I suppose you would call us Middle-Class, especially in Oakville.

Having said that, it appears that Mayor Rob Burton believes that most, if not all of Oakvillians are wealthy and paying more for existing programs and services along with paying for additional assets added to our Town, (such as our New Hospital, $200 Million, all the new Rec Centres added, at $24-$26 Million Each, to name just these two as there are many more,) is not only O.K. but is a requirement of being a Homeowner and resident of Oakville. Our Mayor expects all of us to continue to pay more and more no matter what happens in our personal lives or in our careers or what happens in the General Economy. Rob Burton has been quoted as saying that there are little to no low income or "poor" people in Oakville. His basic premise on money matters is, I want this I buy it. His inner circle of very wealthy individuals keeps him from truly understanding that when he and his Council constantly approve increases in taxes, fees, and debt that there are many thousands of Oakvillians who simply cannot afford it. To date, our Mayor and his Council have increased our Non-Taxpayer supported debt by 300 Percent!! Our Mayor has been using a $500 Million Credit Card to cover his (over) spending.

Why am I bringing all this up in a post that should be directed towards this current By-Election in Ward 6 where I am a Candidate? Because our Mayor asserts about how his Councillors vote unaniously with him almost all the time on issues and this includes the most recent Budget that saw more increases in taxes and debt. Is it not time for a Councillor to disagree and/or vote against consistent budgets that increase taxes and debt? Is it not time to have a Councillor that will really and truly stand-up for the citizens of his/her Ward and just say, "NO!" to over burdening Middle and Lower Income residents? I believe so.

Should only the wealthy pay for increases in taxes and additions to our Town, of course Not! Should Oakville Inc. be more aware and more accountable on spending? Yes. Should our Mayor and his Council be a shining example of fiscal prudence and fiscal responsibility? Yes. Can Oakville still grow in a balanced approach that takes into account not only our natural environment but also our economic environment, Absolutely! Can we not have one extreme measuring the other extreme? (Meaning can we avoid the economic bleeding of homeowners and residents to pay for so-called, "Left Leaning Policies" and at the same time can we avoid the slash and burn every service and program, lay off entire Government work forces, to pay for, "Right Leaning Policies?" I say Yes. We can have our Mayor and all Councillors take a Balanced Approach to all our fiscal policies with our beautiful Town and just like I did with my family keep our lifestyle Stable without breaking the bank with some cutbacks and some increases. It can and should be done!

As Councillor of Ward 6, I would take this approach to The Mayor each and everyday and I would ask and survey all Ward 6 residents how to accomplish this Balanced Fiscal Approach.

"My basic principal is that

you don't make decisions because they are easy,

you don't make them because they're cheap,

you don't make them because they are popular;

you make them because they're right!"

Theodore Hesburgh

I was doing Volunteer Work in Oakville years before I ever thought about wanting to be a Candidate for any Office at Town Hall. I did all the not for pay work because I really enjoyed helping out. I wanted to make a difference in the lives of Oakville citizens even if it was in small numbers. IT FELT GOOD to be able to have the means, time, energy and knowledge on how to be active in my community and give back in small ways to the same Town that gave to me. I moved to Oakville in 1994 and have been here ever since. Previous to living, working and owning Property in Oakville, I grew-up in North York and Thornhill. My volunteer work included...

Vice President of Home and School Council at W.H. Morden Public School

Property&Facilities Manager and Member of Parent/Teachers School Council at Emily Carr Public School

Property &Facilities Manager and Member of Parent/Teachers School Council at Abbey Lane Public School

Co-Chair of Parent/Teachers School Council at Captain R. Wilson Public School

Big Brother to two Oakville Little Brothers with Big Brothers of Halton for 8 years.

I volunteered many weeks as an All Star Reading Program Teacher for many different students, from Kindergarten to Grade 3 at Abbey Lane, Captain R. Wilson and Emily Carr Public Schools.

My oldest son and I have donated many hours with Oakvillegreen Conservation Association where we planted many trees all over Oakville. (Fabulous Organization!)

I have donated many of my dollars to these fine Organizations...

SAVIS of Oakville

Salvation Army of Oakville

 Oakville Humane Society

 United Way of Oakville

Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption of Oakville

Fellow Candidate Jim Smith stated that if he was Elected Councillor he would Cut The Council membership in half from the current 12 Councillors to 6 even if it meant him losing his own seat. Mayor Rob Burton will never allow that to happen, period. Having 12 Councillors has been his Crown Jewel since 2006, he adores having almost unanimous consent with almost all issues requiring votes from Council. (Not that they always agreed with The Mayor just that they voted the way he needed them to) During the 2014 General Election, I lost count how many times, Rob Burton stated, "Council and I..." In fact there is already talk about ADDING ANOTHER COUNCILLOR to Oakville's Town Hall for a total of 13 due to all the massive New Development north of Dundas Street to represent the increased population. What I totally agree with Jim Smith is that in 2010 during his run for Councillor he stated, " I have a proven track record when I was on Council, of Negotiation. We brought in some of the lowest budgets in the history of Oakville, especially when I was chairman of the budget committee." I agree that Oakville Inc. does not need to make massive cutbacks to bring balanced budgets, many programs and services can be brought into balance with negotiation. As a Professional Real Estate Agent for 27 years I successfully completed over 3000 transactions by negotiating. This is a skill that can be used very effectively on Council for the benefit of taxpayer dollars. Waste not, Want not.

For the Record..

I am NOT hoping to be Elected to Oakville Ward 6 Council for "Power"

I am NOT hoping to be Elected to Oakville Ward 6 Council for "Money"

I am NOT hoping to be Elected to Oakville Ward 6 Council for "Influence"

I am NOT hoping to be Elected to Oakville Ward 6 Council because I am a Member or Supporter of ANY Political Party.

I am NOT hoping to be Elected to Oakville Ward 6 Council to be a "Yes Man" for anyone.

I am NOT Anti-Union, I AM Anti-Corruption and Anti-Influence Peddling.

I AM all about Open and Transparent Representation By The People, For The People and Of The People (Of Ward 6)

Public Service to me is NOT about Entitlement or Authoritative Methods of Control. Public Service is an honour, a passion towards helping people.

Humility can and should always be part of being a connection to any Government. As soon as any Government Official believes they are above The Law, then the connection and representation to The People is broken. (And then should be either Fixed or Severed)

Should The Provincial Government give the Green Light to Mayor Rob Burton to begin charging all Oakville Homeowners a New Municipal Land Transfer Tax, then I would proceed with an immediate Motion to disengage all Property Owners in Ward 6 and begin proceedings to exempt all Properties in Ward 6. Should my motion be only temporary then I would ask that the results of the differences between the exempted properties in Ward 6 and the fully taxed properties in the other Wards be calculated to determine the Pros and Cons of the MLTT and it's impact on the Values of the homes along with the impact to the Municipal Treasury.

As Councillor, I would put an immediate motion to reinstate what Justice Bellamy had found in her Report/Inquiry in 2005 that not only set forth that all Municipalities are to have a FULL-TIME Integrity Commissioner but also that NO Pre-Screening of any complaints received is to take place. (Which is exactly what is happening in Oakville currently.) The General Rule/Procedure allowing  Pre-Screening that was placed by Mayor Rob Burton has to be deleted. Any Citizen of Oakville who has any type of Complaint towards The Mayor and/or any Councillors, that complaint will be screened first by the same people who the complaint is lodged against and then decided by Council IF the complaint(s) are to be read by The Integrity Commissioner. This is basically saying that a Law in place can be sidelined into oblivion when Council see's fit! This is not something I could simply allow to stay in place as an active Councillor.

This is the Condition of SUSSEX STREET, it has been this way for over TWO YEARS now! Absolutely Shameful! If I were your Councillor, this would have been Repaved a Long Time ago! No Excuse for this kind of Road to be in our Affluent Town of Oakville!

As Councillor of Ward 6 I would sign an UNCONDITIONAL GUARANTEE Legal Document that would ensure that during any term of Office that I held, I would never seek a Provincial or Federal seat in Government with ANY Political Party.

As Councillor of Ward 6, I would put forth a motion to establish a new department to introduce Municipal Childcare/Daycare Spaces for families in Ward 6 with young children. These spaces will be staffed with highly qualified accredited Early Childhood Educators, (ECE's) along with Supervisors to maintain a balanced Curriculum that exceeds Provincial standards. These spaces will be affordable and available only to Ward 6 residents. All the new jobs that will be created with these new Childcare Centres will be filled with Local Oakville employees only.

I have a unique perspective as a Councillor Candidate because I went through The Political Process as a Mayoral Candidate from February 2014 until October 27th, 2014 including Post-Election months later and learned that "Power," for lack of a better term, does indeed come from the top and trickles downward. That being said it is time for a new and more enhanced way of seeing issues for not just Residents of Ward 6 but for ALL citizens of Oakville because all issues truly affect everyone. And not just the so-called minor issues but the overall issues such as our Non-Tax Supported Debt of now close to $480 Million. Or The Mayor's Office claiming that they are controlling Growth but then having massive New Development being built especially in Wards 5 and 6 to help collect revenue so desperately needed now more than ever. (Because of overspending) Citizens of Ward 6 need to remember that a Town Councillor has only one vote to affect change and many promises made during an Election Campaign can be destroyed even after being Elected through, again, The Political Process. As a Ward 6 Candidate I would like to have these questions answered...

Is it or is it not a CONFLICT OF INTEREST to have an active, sitting Ward 5 Oakville Councillor, (Jeff Knoll) as a Campaign Manager for ONE of the Candidates? (Natalia Lishchyna)

By virtue of Jeff Knoll Campaigning for One Candidate, how is it perceived by the public in that Does The Town of Oakville also ONLY support the Candidate of an active Town Councillor? How is this fair and open to all the other Councillor Candidates?

Does this contravene Oakville's Code of Conduct?

It was reported (Online and from Homeowners in Ward 6) that Natalia was door knocking on the weekend of April 24-25 2015, many days before Town Council voted on calling a By-Election for Ward 6. How did she know to canvass before anyone else? Even before she was a Registered Candidate. Inside Information? Please note; I have absolutely nothing negative to state against Natalia Lishchyna as she is a dedicated volunteer who works very hard within the Community and I like her! My questions are about the Integrity and Transparency of her Campaign Manager.

Ward 6 citizens deserve an unbiased, transparent, accountable Councillor who will vote against policies and procedures that take democratic rights away from them. A Councillor who will stand-up and say, "No," to Secrecy and in-camera meetings that talk against the needs of Ward 6 residents.

I filed 8 separate Integrity Commissioner Complaints this past January 2015 and all of them were denied access to be even read by The Integrity Commissioner and Councillor Knoll stated that they were "Political and Vexatious" and voted them to be shelved and forgotten about. Councillor Knoll stated in 2011 that Council should not be a Kangaroo Court and should not be deciding what Affidavits go to the Integrity Commissioner. A complete turn-around in 2015.

As Councillor of Ward 6,  I would...

Help to bring the total stalemate on the Jet Aircraft noise and fly-by's over Wards 5 and 6 to a close. This issue has been in Committees, studies and now The Mayor's Advisory Group (MAG) for far too long since 2012. Even if this means to go directly to the top and pay a visit to The Prime Minister's Office. (Rob Burton has been bashing Harper for 8 years, I have a much more congenial relationship with him.)

Rob Burton blames Former Mayor Ann Mulvale for any and all developments in Ward 6 that have opposition from it's residents, stating she allowed them during her terms in office and there is nothing he can change. Of course, change can be affected if one really wants to work hard and with openness, and negotiate with Builder's/Developers in advance and without threatening the Principals with all kinds of repercussions for not doing everything he demands. The White Oaks Golf Club is a Prime example. I even tried to help residents back in 2014 during my Mayoral Campaign when they sent me many e-mails voicing their concerns.

Push Hard for the immediate adoption of "Ranked Ballots" for any future By-Elections and for the 2018 General Election for all Councillor's and The Mayor's Office.

Put forth an immediate Motion to cap and/or filter the six diesel-fired emergency generators, the natural gas-fired boilers and cooling towers from the Brand New Hospital in Ward 4. The huge amounts of black toxic plumes of smoke emitted by these generators will filter into Ward 6 very easily and our children will be breathing in these fine particulates everyday! Mayor Rob Burton is suppose to be an expert on Air pollution yet he pushed the construction of these generators through Town Council because it was cheaper.

Put forth an immediate motion that will implement a program of burying as many hydro power lines as possible in the multitude of new Developments being built in Ward 6, (No more weather related Black-Outs/Brown Outs, huge savings in repairs and costs.)

Put forth an immediate motion to implement a Climate Change Adaptation Strategy, not just endless studies and Committees but REAL ACTION, Physical Infrastructure Upgrades and changes to prepare for the inevitable extreme weather issues.

I would attend every event, dinner, Political Function, charitable organization initiatives, and be available to all Ward 6 residents, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help them with any needs or concerns. BUT beyond that I would go out into the community each and every week on a different day each week, with a digital recorder and camera and take stock of all of Ward 6's roads, sewers, town lands, observe and where necessary supervise Town Workers, take digital notes and pictures and direct Town Staff for any remedial work necessary. I will drive/walk through the subdivisions and make sure that the Town's services are up to date, The cable boxes, telephone boxes, curbs, sewer grates, hydro poles, street lamps, garbage containers, parks and rec centres are all well maintained and kept clean and up to date. EACH AND EVERY WEEK this will be DONE.

As a Full-Time Professional Real Estate Agent for 27 years I was extensively trained in one ideal...SERVICE, and more specifically, Service to the Public. Why? Because it works! This is the mainstay of any and all Town Councillors. I also worked for many years in many GTA communities large and small (including Oakville) with New Home Builders. I know how they think, how they work, politically and commercially. I will make that knowledge work for all Ward 6 Residents.

In 2014, I received a phone call informing me that my Mayoral Election signs were being removed late at night and replaced with Rob Burton Election signs. The caller told me that it was Oakville Firemen doing the removal of my signs. I e-mailed the Fire Chief and he replied saying it was not the Firemen but The Firemen Association (Union) doing off-duty Campaigning on behalf for Rob Burton. I am not certain at this time which Candidate (s) The Firemen Association are hoping to win this By-Election, but I hope this time they leave ALL of the Election signs from ALL Candidates up without interference.

I would put forth an immediate motion to partially privatize all Oakville Transit buses in Ward 6 and throughout Oakville itself. $18 Million dollars in lost revenue is generated by Oakville Transit each and every year. Most buses are empty or close to empty during their runs around our Town. We also need to have those high polluting diesel buses changed to electric or hybrids to eliminate all the toxins pumped into our air-shed everyday. A private company could do this. I would not ask to privatize Oakville Transit 100% but at a 70/30 split. This way we can, as a Town, keep control of The safety measures needed and the revenue stream so excessive ticket prices do not become the norm. If the Unions balk too much at a Town-Wide Privatization, then I would ask for a Pilot Project in Ward 6 alone to see if it is in the best interests for all concerned in having a private company transporting our citizens around Ward 6. Discover if it works with our Ward 6 residents. A private fleet of Oakville buses could even obtain through innovation in obtaining many more riders on their buses and out of their cars. Less Pollution again!  We would staff these new buses with current Oakville Transit bus drivers, no need for them to lose their jobs through privatization. I have personally seen first-hand how many private companies will compete for ridership in London, England. It works extremely well! The buses run 1-5 minutes max to pick-up riders on every stop. In Oakville the buses run every 30 minutes! Too long! In Ward 6 we can try a new approach with our transit. Ward 6 can be the innovator Ward! The millions of dollars in savings from current Oakville Transit to the new system can be redirected into Resident based initiatives. We will ask citizens of Ward 6 what we should do with the saved money.

As a Councillor I would put forth an immediate motion that would eliminate the Increase of all the User Fees Programs and Services offered to the Ward 6 Community. These fees were recently raised by as much as 42%! These increases were rammed through Council WITHOUT CONSULTATION with the Public The Friday before Christmas last year!

I would ask and put forth an immediate motion to reinstate the Auditor General to conduct an immediate General Audit of all debt owed, Tax payer and Non Tax Payer Supported debt and what plan, if any, is being implemented to pay off this debt. Remember, Mayor Rob Burton and his Council cancelled The Auditor General altogether on November 27th, 2007!

I would put forth a motion to have an immediate plan to have Town Owned Streets and Roads in Ward 6, as a pilot project, all retrofitted with heating elements, or installed into the newly built Roads with self supporting heating coils that will completely eliminate the need for dumping tons of toxic rock salt on our Roads that pollute our creeks and waterways and damage our local environment. Additionally, these heated streets in Ward 6 will not suffer the constant strain of expansion/contraction ruts and potholes and this will save us millions of tax dollars in Road repairs and Street repaving. Again, the saved dollars will go back into Ward 6 public initiatives.

I will put forth a motion and work tirelessly to obtain agreements with The Mayor and The Province of Ontario to bring back much needed tourism in The Downtown Oakville core and in turn in Ward 6. I would PARTNER with as many companies and individuals as possible to introduce new fun, exciting, mid to large scale attractions into Ward 6 and The Lakeshore Road corridor. These brand new tourist sites can be permanent or temporary and involve attractions such as a large enclosed Ferris Wheel, many different Waterfront attractions, boat tours, large scale water slides, gaming arcades, Cirque Du Soleil Venues, Musical Entertainment Venues, etc. If the Downtown Core businesses and/or residents do not wish to partake in these new tourism initiatives then we can have a pilot project in Ward 6 to discover if it is worthwhile not only for our local citizens but for our business community and for our youth as well. I am not talking about another Waterfront Festival that loses money every year or has to be supplemented by Oakville tax dollars through Council, but real private and Provincial or even Federal initiatives that will bring back large scale tourism that has been missing for the past 7 years.

Public Notice! I have filed all my Nomination papers with The Office of the Clerk at Oakville Town Hall for my Candidacy for Councillor of Ward 6, I was asked by many people for the past 6 weeks to ask the citizens of Ward 6 for their vote as these people told me that a real Candidate is desperately needed to keep Democracy in place and to have a Candidate who will try to uphold integrity and honesty and most importantly to SUPPORT THE NEEDS of WARD 6 RESIDENTS and not to just be another "Yes" man/woman to Rob Burton. At first I told all these callers that this By-Election was a forgone conclusion with Active Town Councillor Jeff Knoll publicly announcing that he was The Campaign Manager for Dr Natalia Lishchyna, (A Chiropractor) who has many Political Connections already in place along with many friends through her Federal Conservative participation in the newly formed MP Riding. (Which she withdrew from along with Eve Adams.) Then there is the Candidacy of Max Khan's Brother as well. I received one phone call from a citizen stating that he has been living in the United States for quite some time and came back recently. The most important subject to me for my Candidacy was to be a Voice For The People, ALL PEOPLE of Ward 6 especially now with all the huge amounts of New Development going on in and around Ward 6. They need representation that is NOT FILTERED through Politics and The Mayor's Office, The Residents of Ward 6 require a new Councillor who TRULY represents all their concerns ALL THE TIME no matter what is put on the table. I truly believe that I can be the Champion for all of the people of Ward 6 without any interference from Political intrigue.

Thousands of these New Homes are going to be built in and around Oakville, Burton says he is keeping the lid on Development?? NOT!

More New Home Signs popping-up meaning more and more Growth, exactly the opposite to what Burton claims about controlling Growth and Development.

You are going to see THOUSANDS of these types of Unit homes being built in and around Oakville,  (this picture just being in Ward 5) Burton says he is controlling all this Development??

IS ROB BURTON CONTROLLING GROWTH? Look at these pictures and decide...

There should NEVER be any Politics concerning Health and Life for any Member of Council including Mayor Rob Burton, and the shocking, sudden, news of Ward 6 Councillor Max Khan's untimely Death. I do not agree with many things Rob Burton says and many things he does as Mayor, but having said that I would NEVER EVER wish him ill health or any member of his Council, doing that is simply hitting below the belt and totally unnecessary and inappropriate. I only had the opportunity to meet Mr. Khan a couple of times and despite the fact that he was not my supporter in anyway I completely felt for his family and friends and his supporters. He was younger than me and he appeared to be healthy and full of energy. It is a great loss and tragic circumstance to lose a member of Council and a fellow Oakvillian. My deepest and heartfelt Condolences to all who knew him.

Did you know that a phone call went out from a School Board Trustee to Ralph Robinson, (Ward 1 Councillor for 30 years) asking him to bring forth a motion to Mayor Rob Burton and Council to raise the Property Taxes by .01% to pay for the increases in Oakville Transit Fees that she knew were coming in 2015? It amounted to about $25.00 more per year for each Homeowner. This request was completely ignored and all Oakville Transit fees went up significantly. This Trustee was disgusted because the most vulnerable citizens of Oakville who make use of the buses were being hit hard with higher transport costs. These higher costs were being felt by the lower and Middle income people the most and they are the citizens who could use a break for a change! Mayor Rob Burton and HIS Council really do not care about Lower and Middle Income citizens in Oakville. Rob Burton has even told a reporter that there are no poor people in Oakville! (I have the written article to prove it.) It's bad enough that every year Oakville Transit loses $18 Million to keep those diesel polluting buses running all over this great Town, but to hit the Lower and Middle Income residents with increased fees is just another slap in their faces.

Interesting phone call received yesterday from a now Former Catholic School Board Trustee, she mentioned that Mayor Rob Burton was not pleased with the way St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School was being designed and ultimately built and he PERSONALLY got involved in doing everything in his "power" to delay and delay and delay the issuance of a Municipal Building Permit until the Catholic School Board and it's Chair saw the light and built the school to HIS APPROVAL! Because of Rob Burton's assault on the democratic process, The Board had to take the Town to The OMB, (Ontario Municipal Board) and they WON! To the much delight of students, parents and the teachers the school was completed in 2011 without the manipulation of Mayor Rob Burton. Additionally, Kings Christian Collegiate Catholic (Private) High School put together a huge effort to build a new playing field on their property and AGAIN Mayor Rob Burton intervened and told them, "no can do" as they wanted to install lights on their own PRIVATE PROPERTY so their sports teams can continue to win championships on their own field while being able to see what they are doing on-field. Again, this School had to take Burton to The OMB and again THEY WON! They reminded The Mayor that when The Town of Oakville builds a new playing field on Town owned property they install lights however and whenever they deem fit! Is The Mayor of Oakville a Sociopath? Or simply an extreme Micro-Manager? Why does he seem to have to get personally involved in everyone's business? Why does he have to manipulate and control everything in Oakville to his satisfaction? There was even a current Councillor who mentioned to one of my friends during the 2014 Election Campaign that he despised Rob Burton because he says and does so many things that he disagrees with including the Self-Promotion and Self-Endorsement of himself and all Council Members. This Councillor was not pleased that during the September 22nd, 2014 Council Meeting Rob Burton told everyone to just vote everyone back in and not to worry about the massive spending that is going on, that everything is just fine! I am receiving phone calls and e-mails month after month from Oakville Citizens who are upset, concerned and shocked at what Rob Burton has done in the past and what he will do in the near future. They also do not understand how he won another Election with so much (Private) dissent in his ranks and with the Majority of Oakville Citizens. Many tell me that his core support comes from The Unions and they keep propping him up. Why? Well, Non-Collective Bargaining is what I am being told. The Key word being NON. Since 67% of Oakville Residents did NOT vote in the 2014 Election then is it safe to say that the 33% who did vote, minus the people who did not vote for Burton were all Union backed in some way? This is disturbing to say the least. While I have absolutely nothing against Unions, they are an essential part of our Democracy, and they are suppose to keep Employers from abusing their workers, it is very concerning to be told by Oakville Taxpayers that they control the Mayor's Office from the Inside. This needs immediate investigation.

I asked Council to do the "Right-Thing" This was their response...(They did what was right for them, to maintain their power!)

In 2011, Councillor Jeff Knoll stated, and I quote, "

Ward 5 Town and Regional Councillor Jeff Knoll said referring this matter to the Integrity Officer is appropriate.

“I have a real problem discussing this at council. These allegations are serious and whether they are vexatious or not that is not for us to determine,” he said.

“The Province of Ontario has put a process in place a process to adjudicate these issues so that we don’t create a ‘kangaroo count’ to try two of our colleagues on very serious allegations.”

Knoll said if the Integrity Officer’s report indicated the allegations are groundless the issue would be over, but if nothing is done the situation would be far worse.

"If we don’t refer this off to the Integrity Commissioner, as requested, this will forever be an open issue,” he said. “ I don’t think it is in anyone’s best interest to have this continue and I also don’t think it is in anyone’s best interest that we as a council try to wrestle with the issues that are represented in this report.”

WHY does Councillor Knoll NOT Believe what he stated in 2011, that The Integrity Commissioner should be the ONLY person to decide what is Vexatious or not? In 2015, HE stated that my 8 Affidavits were vexatious, trivial and Political, and except for two Councillors he and all the other Councillors voted to shelve and squash all my complaints with no reading by The Integrity Commissioner at all. In essence Council decided to become The Integrity Commissioner. REMEMBER there is NO PROVISION in The PROVINCIAL MUNICIPAL ACT (Provincial Laws) to allow Council to be or act as The Integrity Commissioner INCLUDING the Pre-Screening of any complaints made by any Oakville Citizens. Council decided to put an internal RULE to allow them to decide what if any complaints are worthy of being sent to The Integrity Commissioner. NOT a LAW, a Rule that allows them to forgo any Conflict of Interest in their decisions to allow the Integrity Commissioner to DO HIS JOB!

As expected, Town Council voted to NOT allow any of my 8 Integrity Commissioner Complaints to be read and investigated by The Integrity Commissioner. Only Councillors Pam Damoff and Sean O'Mera voted to send my complaints to The Commissioner. Councillor Knoll stated my Complaints were vexatious and trivial. He also incorrectly stated that I said in my speech to everyone in Council Chambers that HE squashed the previous complaint on December 22, 2014, I clearly stated that Council squashed it. My complete speech is here for all to read...

PUBLIC NOTICE! There will be a Town Council Meeting this coming Monday February 23rd, 2015 at 7 p.m, which among other things will include a vote on my 8 separate Integrity Commissioner Complaints. Council members will vote to either squash all my complaints and they will go nowhere and not be read by The Commissioner or will "allow" my Affidavits to be read by The Integrity Commissioner. I WILL BE A DELEGATE at this meeting and hopefully Council will "allow" me to speak on behalf of the complaints, for 10 minutes that is suppose to be part of the Public process. The meeting will be filmed on LIVE Town T.V. if you want to watch it on The Town Website, and it should be archived afterwards as well, hopefully NOT edited. If you are interested in seeing how Council moves for or against me as a taxpayer and Homeowner of Oakville since 1994, come on out to Council Chambers at 7 p.m.

Last week while driving along Dundas Street (Hwy #5) and passing-by our brand new and upcoming Oakville Hospital I had to actually pull over on the shoulder to watch in horror, large black, toxic plumes of thick smoke spewing out of a smoke stack on top of the Hospital main building. I realized this was from the Diesel Generators built into the Hospital. I watched just ONE of the total SIX smoke stacks spitting out these Cancer causing clouds! When the new Hospital opens up this coming December, how much MORE toxic clouds will be pumped into our Local Airshed?! Rob Burton claims to be an Air Pollution Specialist and an expert on toxins in our airsheds, yet he allows this travesty of diesel smoke to be pumped into my children's lungs and my local Ward 4 fellow citizens lungs with impunity! This MUST STOP! Those stacks need to be filtered or the Generators changed from Diesel to Natural Gas, Electric/Solar before the Official Opening of this $2.7 Billion Hospital. Mayor Rob Burton may not even care about the ADDITIONAL Air Pollution we have to breath in here in Ward 4 as he lives way South of us in Ward 3! C'mon, do the right thing and stop forcing us to breath-in extra toxins!

Old News being Confirmed today, (February 20th, 2015,)Rob Burton's Mayoral Salary INCREASED in 2015 to just under $150,000 per year, along with Councillor and Budget Chair Tom Adams confirming that Oakville's Debt has RISEN by 300 Percent! User fees INCREASED all around, Oakville Property taxes INCREASED again for the 9th year in a row! Has your salary gone up this 2015 year? This question going out to private sector, Non-Unionized or Government workers. If your salary has remained stagnant for this year and last year and perhaps in 2013, 2012, or more how are you able to pay increased taxes and fees coming from our Town Council each and every year? What cut-backs on your family do you have to make?

Cold Enough outdoors for you? (February 20th, 2015,) Get used to it! These record breaking cold extreme temperatures during our winter months are being quoted by Climate Change Experts and Environmentalists as being the tip of the Iceberg in that they expect the extreme weather patterns to continue and even Increase over the coming months and years to come. I was shouting from the rooftops about getting ready for extreme weather in Oakville since March 1st, 2014. Only Gary Carr, (Halton Regional Chair) has been talking about doing some limited things to counterman Global Climate Change in Oakville and it's surrounding Towns. We need to get a Town wide initiative to set the wheels in immediate action to prepare our beautiful Town for more climate change extreme weather before it actually damages our Town infrastructure and then our Homes and businesses. (see my "Ideas" page on this website for more details.) Yes, it will cost money to be Pro-Active and prepare for the oncoming weather extremes but Rob Burton and HIS Town Council have no problem spending our money, (close to $500 million a year) and we need to advocate to The Province and to The Federal Government to help us with the funding, such as the recent monies received for the ongoing clean-up from the 2013 Ice Storm. Let's be Practical now and get our Town ready!

In my recent Oakville Hydro Bill there was a small pamphlet inside that stated, "The Ontario Energy Board approved an increase to Oakville Hydro Electricity Distribution Inc's Residential delivery rates and OTHER CHARGES effective January 1, 2015." WHAT???? Rob Burton clearly stated that our Hydro rates would NOT go up! More LIES! More SPIN! Rob Burton LOVES to MINCE WORDS and SPIN words so it appears that he is telling you what you want to hear and then when something actually happens that is in complete opposite to what he said, he simply goes back to the precise wording and quotes himself and says that's not what I said or meant, or blames the turn-around on someone else, (The Province made us do it, or it's The DISTRIBUTION COMPANY not Oakville Hydro, just like it's The Fireman's ASSOCIATION/Union, NOT the Actual Fireman themselves! Excuse me? There's a difference??)

A concerned citizen sent a letter to the Editor of The Oakville Beaver Newspaper complaining about a survey he completed on the telephone, (I did the same one myself) for/on behalf of The Town of Oakville that asked him about a Municipal Land Transfer Tax. He was questioning the validity of the question as he was under the impression that Rob Burton wavered on that issue and his Councillor, Jeff Knoll said no-way will a MLTT be implemented. Rob Burton is most likely already in talks with our Premier and her staff on how to begin the process of pushing through a MLTT as soon as possible. He will mince words again and say that he is following orders from The Province. But we know he really wants to get this tax pushed through. As well as a Municipal SALES TAX and even some toll roads to add insult to injury. Rob Burton would enjoy seeing all Middle Class and Lower Class residents move-out of Oakville to be replaced with only wealthy families to support his way of life and his high priced establishment. Only the rich should be able to afford to live in Oakville according to the way Rob Burton is setting up our Financial Municipal House.

So far we can expect...Once again for 9 years in a row Higher Property taxes, including higher Regional Taxes, higher user fees all around, a very possible Municipal Land Transfer Tax, higher Hydro, water, (with Fluoride still in it) and Gas Rates and the list goes on and on....! And Rob Burton's Salary INCREASED in 2015! Did YOUR Salary GO UP? If it did not, then how are you going to afford more and more Municipal taxes and fees? What are you going to have to cut-back on? Rob Burton is certainly not going to do any cutting himself, that is certain!

Recently, Toronto Mayor John Tory informed Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne, "Thanks for Nothing!" Meaning he rejected her offer of a $200 Million Line of Credit SECURED by Public Toronto Assets including Hard Assets like Real Estate and future profits from Gas Taxes. Is it possible that Mayor Rob Burton ACCEPTED a $500 Million Line of Credit from the same Premier to fund all the New Rec-Centres already built and TO BE built along with our New Hospital along with The Capital Projects already completed and TO BE (possibly) completed? And more importantly, what hard and soft Assets did he pledge and commit to secure this line of credit? What taxpayer supported and Town Owned companies did Rob Burton GIVE to Kathleen Wynne without consulting with Oakville Citizens? Remember, Rob Burton has publically stated many times that our debt ceiling is not maxed out, (yet) and we have much room left to spend based on our credit worthiness. He has stated more times than one that we will not pay higher rates in our Hydro Bills to pay the interest and the debenture/loan for the Hospital, he tells us all the time that he will not raise taxes FURTHER to build new Community Centres or for ANY other capital project in the works or to be on the Agenda in the near future. Rob Burton is using our Platinum Town Credit Card to fund almost EVERYTHING that he is doing and promises to do with that Credit Card and it will burst sooner than later and then all our assets will be turned over to the Province to pay-off or pay-down this massive Line of Credit. Development charges even at 100% will not cover the massive amounts of money Rob Burton has spent and will spend in the coming months and years. But he is not really concerned about finances because they are being spent now and deferred to being paid back over the next 30 years! Rob Burton is a Veteran Politician now and he is not worried about what our Town Finances will be in 30 years! Is this public transparency and accountability? I think NOT! WE NEED A FULL and COMPLETE PUBLIC AUDIT of all Town's spending immediately! Before it's too late to find out all that is going on behind the scenes. No-one (including me) is against adding public Rec-Centres, public assets for our Fireman and Police Constables, (The new $65 Million HQ) and spending cash on people and items that Oakville needs and requires now and in the next few years, but just running-up a huge TAB is not fiscal prudence! It can be done with Intelligent Budgeting, just like so many fine families have to do each and everyday on their own financial planning.

Should Oakville Mayor Rob Burton deny any Islamic Cleric's/Imam's applications to build or allow any Community Centres because they are a threat to our security? Recently Montreal Mayor, Denis Coderre denied a building permit to Hamza Chaoui to develop an Islamic Community Centre due to his status as an "Agent of Radicalization" as quoted by Mayor Coderre. During the 2014 Mayoral Campaign I had several residents e-mail me stating they were afraid of the recent approvals of Mosques in Oakville and what I might do to prevent any radical behaviours and activities in these Mosques. I told them no-one should live in fear and that I would go with them into the Mosques and talk with their Leaders to obtain their take on how to prevent misunderstandings of the ideals of our different religions and cultures but how we all agree that peaceful co-existence is a key ingredient in prevention of any and all violence. Our Police Force keeps our Town safe from ALL threats domestic and foreign.

Brampton`s New Mayor just completed a full Audit of all spending and was told by the Auditor to sit down before reading it! Massive fraud, and Collusion reported along with City Staff members resigning and retiring as fast as they could before the ink dried on the Auditors report! Taxpayers/Residents demanding that those responsible INCLUDING City Councillors see some JAIL-TIME for all the financial mess they caused under their watch! OAKVILLE desperately needs a full and impartial external Third-Party Audit immediately!

Yes, Oakville Roads and sidewalks cleared of snow very nicely yesterday, (January 26th, 2015) if you read my posts from exactly a year ago here on this website it was a very different story then, we were lucky if the snow was cleared two days after the snow stopped! Amazing what happens after an Election and issues brought to light! My hats off to all the snow plow operators public operators and the private contractors hired. Now, if only we could stop using corrosive and high polluting salts on our roads!

Another Massive Snow Storm today, (January 26th, 2015) here in Oakville, 15+cm and up to a metre, (over 3 feet) of the white stuff in New York State and Pennsylvania U.S.A. It being called the "historic" storm of the last 100 years! If I were your Mayor, all our major roads would be clear of snow and ice and slush BEFORE it got a chance to accumulate because our Roads would be HEATED. It's not a new concept either, it's used in Norway and in certain parts of the United States very successfully and without excessive costs. In fact one bridge in Toronto was fitted with heated streets and it was deemed a huge success. It's been proven to be cost effective and removes all the toxins dumped into our waterways and Natural Heritage lands with corrosive salts and sands. Our environmentalist Mayor, Rob Burton does nothing about upgrading our roads and helping our natural environment here in Oakville! He is only a tree guy! Nothing else! The heating elements can even be used in our sidewalks very effectively! It's already been done in many parts of Europe and in The United States! Wake-up Burton! Time for Change!

PUBLIC NOTICE: Yesterday afternoon, I formally and officially filed with The Town Clerk, Vicki Tytaneck, EIGHT separate Integrity Commissioner Complaints. They were all signed off by her yesterday with my oldest son as witness along with fellow Town Clerk, Kim Galione. They will be on Town Council Docket sometime this month for (illegal) Pre-Screening by Town Council in February during their next Council Meeting. These complaints will most likely be "shelved" by Jeff Knoll and the remainder of Council with the exception of Pam Damoff, during their Judgement of their "validity." Please be aware that my complaints are VERY SERIOUS allegations that need to be properly INVESTIGATED, and at the very least read by the Integrity Commissioner. As far as I am aware we are the only Municipality that still Pre-Screens all registered complaints by any taxpaying resident of Oakville BEFORE the complaints even get to be read by The Commissioner. The Municipal Act 1996, A PROVINCIAL Act of laws states that all complaints should be read by The Commissioner and not Pre-Screened first. (See The Bellamy Inquiry for details) In other words, how can Jeff Knoll make a determination of whether or not a complaint even goes to the Integrity Commissioner especially if it involves his conduct? He and Council are saying if you complain about us for any reason we will determine if your complaint is valid or not!! If you break a law or do not follow through with a legal rule as a Private Citizen you do not get the opportunity to Pre-Determine if the charge against you is worthy to be sent to a Judge in court?! You go to Court and you are either proven innocent or guilty, period! Jeff Knoll disagrees and he and Council determine what ever complaints against them are frivolous or not. Please contact me for details on what my Integrity Commissioner Complaints were all about...

Driving on our Regional Roads, such as Upper Middle Road, Trafalgar Road, Lakeshore Road, and more, it literally is as if we are travelling on TRAIN TRACKS! Bump, Bump, Bump, all across these roads. The expansion/contraction ruts and pot holes along these main Roads is shameful! Affluent Community? Not driving on those Roads! Burton will use the excuse, well, they are Regional Roads...Burton is by virtue of being Mayor on Regional Council and talks with Regional Chair, Gary Carr often enough to simply tell him, we need these Roads paved right away! Why are these Roads in such a terrible state of repair? No money? Not caring about our Roads? What's the newest excuse?

On CBC's "Power and Politics" Our Ontario Premier was quoted as saying that she needs and asked Prime Minister Harper for $30 Billion more per year to pay for new Infrastructure Projects over the next 10 years. The Federal Government says it doesn't have that money, especially now with the "low" Oil prices. Ms. Wynne simply stated well just borrow that money and we can pay it off over "time." Sound familiar? Burton has been saying this for the past eight years, and is doing the same thing, he has borrowed over $400 Million and is saying we will pay it off over 30 years! He doesn't care about 30 years from now, but most of us do as we know that carrying that huge debt is bad for our Town Now! We have as a Town never had such a massive debt over our heads before! While I totally agree with Kathleen's want to bring Infrastructure into line in terms of upgrading, maintaining and expanding Infrastructure, borrowing more (tax) dollars is not the way, finding SAVINGS, NOT CUTS, into our budgets can bring about new Infrastructure spending and construction. Burton will not do this he is simply all about borrowing on our Town Platinum Credit Card until it's maxed out! Then what? Keeping raising the debt ceiling and borrow some more! Oh brother!

Are you still hearing and seeing Jet Airplanes flying over your head over and over again in Wards 4 and 5? It's been 3 months now since Jeff Knoll and Burton "won" the 2014 Election, what if anything is happening with stopping the noise and pollution over our airspace? They promised much to stop it during the Election race!

More Taxing News that was not discussed with Oakville residents, why? Because Mayor Rob Burton likes to push through more fees and taxes without public consultation because he has made promises to other groups of people that want our dollars to support their living status. So, I hope you have more money for the new year as we are now going to be forced to pay up to 42% more for many programs and services in and around Oakville. Here is the line-up of the increases...

Library fees all going up, including Author Events and Preschool creative arts and crafts.

Parking Fines- all going up by 42 percent including for parking facing the "wrong" way on a street.

Infant Grave markers in Town Cemeteries (Shameful!) Increased 10%

Harbour Fees increased by another 4%, remember Burton says that our Harbours are suppose to be self-sustaining!

Want to make use of one of our Oakville Fields? You will now have to pay an additional 5 percent!

Nickel and Dimes...You now have to pay 9 cents per e-mail to receive anything by the Oakville Centre!

Oakville Transit STUDENT Fees increased by 7 percent to $75 for a monthly pass!

Burton's Open-Cheque-book policy! I hope you can afford it!

Do citizens in Mississauga truly believe Oakville is full of "Old-People?" During the Election Campaign I was invited to a Radio Station in Mississauga to be interviewed about running for Mayor and the Radio Host mentioned that he left Oakville because our Town was too full of Elderly people and they controlled the way things were done! Do you agree? Are Wards 1, 2, and 3 full of pensioners and Wards 4, 5, and 6 full of younger families with Kindergarten and Grade School children? Are we in Oakville labelled by Mississauga citizens unfairly? Does this affect our Property Values?

Target and The Sony Store are both going to be Gone forever very soon from Oakville and many job losses will occur, What will happen to the Malls losing their Anchor store? What will Mayor Rob Burton do to help the Mall Landlords replace these major stores? What will Burton do to help the Oakville citizens who will have no income? Does Rob Burton even care at all?

Wow! Is Mayor Burton Finally listening to my rants?! It has been reported to me that he is having meetings with some of the Lakeshore Woods Homeowners/Taxpayers concerning their 12 year wait for a Public School to be built in their beautiful neighbourhood! Finally!

I Hope Mayor Burton does NOT allow this to continue in 2015! He says he is an Environmentalist, Clean this up now!

A Very Merry Christmas, (2014) and a Very Happy New Year!!

The Lakeshore Woods Community in South (Ward 1) Oakville has been waiting for a new Public School for their growing families for 12 YEARS NOW! Most of the Taxpaying Homeowners in that beautiful subdivision are forced to send their children to schools in Burlington! Burton has publicly stated to them that they just have to fight their own battles with The Halton District School Board and get their School Trustees to get the Board and The Province to fund and make a new school a priority! It has little to do with him! WHAT??? EVERYTHING that involves Oakville residents involves The Mayor's Office! I've said this before and I say it again, if I was your Mayor I would go directly to The Premiers Office and to the School Board President and demand a sit down and immediate agreement to fund and begin building a new School right away! Yes, of course work with The Trustee's, with Kevin Flynn, even with the Teacher's Union, and whoever else is on side to get that long awaited and badly needed School built! Waiting for 12 years is a joke! Totally Unacceptable! We live in an affluent Community, no excuse to not have a Public School in that Neighbourhood. It is VERY CONVENIENT for Burton to play Politics again and brush it off with the old well, it's not within my power to do anything garbage! It sure is convenient for Burton and HIS NEEDS to have tons of photo's taken with him cozying up with Kathleen Wynne and Kevin Flynn and Justin Trudeau. Burton had no problem getting The Province to fund their share of the $2.7 BILLION new Hospital, so you could negotiate a funding program for these Homeowners children to be able to go to school in their own neighbourhood! As a former Real Estate Agent negotiating is a key skill, one that Burton has shown is not in his repertoire. Burton may not have a Political Mandate to help these Residents but you have a MORAL and ETHICAL duty to at least TRY to help them in ANYWAY possible! Get that School Built, Now!

Food for Thought...Have you ever thought about the So-Called Official Election Results? Just thought you would like to know, that none of the Polling Stations were able to automatically upload the Voting Results to the Main Town Database Server. The numbers that were visible on the Election Website were all MANUALLY ENTERED! Just saying...

Driving today, (December 20th, 2014) along our local Roads, there are clouds of Salt seen rising into our Oakville airshed because of the traffic and the tons of Road salt dumped onto our Streets during the last snowfalls. Is it safe to our citizens to be breathing in all this salt when our Roads are dry? If I were your Mayor there would be no salt dumped onto our Major Roads, as they would be all heated Streets.

During the Third LIVE Mayoral Question and Answer Debate at Oakville Trafalgar High School, (I use that term loosely as it was not an official Debate per-se) when everything was said and done, I went outside and met-up with my fellow Mayoral Candidates, (except Burton), and we were having a very pleasant chat among each other and one supportive Constituent. As we were talking, Burton and his wife Wendy, come through the doors and see us conversing among ourselves and Wendy as she is walking past us, very openly and loudly begins to LAUGH DIRECTLY AT US in sheer defiance! It was an evil almost hysterical laugh that I will never forget. They then proceeded into their SUV and I was quite disgusted and left the parking lot minutes later. Wendy is representing all of Oakville and showed her true nature that night at least to us! Shameful!

I am researching purchasing a Back-up Power Generator for my home. One that is permanent and installed with a gas line and transfer station. I suspect it will be needed as more and more power outages will be occurring due to more extreme weather and the New Hospital putting more strain on our local grid. Regional Chair Gary Carr has stated that he is going to be installing Power Generators for Halton Region to combat Climate Change extreme weather instead of burying our hydro lines. No exact details on how he is going to be doing this yet, hopefully he supplies us with additional information soon! At least he is talking about doing something about this issue that I brought up dozens of times during the past Municipal Election as Mayoral Candidate. Burton is not talking or doing anything about this important issue that affects us all here in Oakville.

Oh Joy! Burton is now tweeting that he is wanting to introduce a Municipal Sales Tax in Oakville! Think what that will do to our already beleaguered local businesses! It will be a Ghost Town of businesses! This along with Burton wanting to introduce a Municipal Land Transfer Tax on all our homes whenever we buy and sell our residences! Welcome to more and more Burton Municipal Taxes! And now there is news that home prices are beginning to decrease all across Canada! And in more great news, Burton also wants to introduce Toll Roads on all major Oakville Roads! Lovely! Burton has said that he prefers that only people who can afford to live in our Town should be here. Does that include you?

If you are reading this Burton please send the Snow Plows to Roylen Road here in North Oakville as that street has NOT BEEN PLOWED AT ALL and it is a complete mess! When I drove on that street there was an elderly couple who were slipping and sliding to get to their vehicle parked on that street and they almost fell down!!

Oh My! My Residential street where I live has been plowed of the recent snow! I have lived in my North Glen Abbey Home since 2001 and this is the very first time that my road has been snow plowed by The Town of Oakville immediately after a storm is finished. This is a day to be remembered, (December 12th, 2014). Burton is finally (after 8 years) starting to Get It! Service to the taxpayers of this great Town is and should be priority Number One! Please let me know if your Residential Road has been plowed of the snow from yesterdays storm. Send me an e-mail or call me so I can take a survey and let the Town Roads Department be aware! It is truly amazing what a Municipal Election can do to jump-start services! Lets hope that it lasts!

Having fun in today's snow storm? (December 11th, 2014) While it is always pretty to get snow just before Christmas it is not a pleasant environment driving on our local roads. Remember, if I was your Mayor, almost all of our major roads would be dry and clear with our roads being pre-heated and not needing any plowing or salting. Therefore, our snow plows and salt trucks could clear our side-streets during and immediately after every snow storm, unlike now we are lucky if our local residential and commercial side streets are cleared many days AFTER the snow has stopped. Burton does not think in terms of what should be done in advance, I do, we have technology that can and should be used in our Town to make our lives better. Burton loves the status-quo as it keeps him in power which is all he is really concerned about.

TORONTO — Ontario’s auditor general is sounding the alarm about the province’s ballooning debt in her annual report, warning that it continues to grow faster than the province’s economy.

In her 600-page annual report released Tuesday, Bonnie Lysyk cautioned that despite Ontario’s work to eliminate its deficit, the province’s rising net debt — the difference between its liabilities and its total assets — could have a number of negative implications for its finances in the future.

Ontario’s majority Liberal government has pledged to eliminate its $12.5-billion deficit by 2017-18. But by that year, the province’s net debt will have soared to $325 billion — more than double the $156.6 billion a decade ago, Lysyk’s report estimated.

"To put this in perspective, to eliminate Ontario’s 2017-18 estimated net debt, every man, woman and child in Ontario would need to contribute $23,000 to the provincial coffers,” Lysyk said in her report.

It appears that Re-Elected Regional Chair Gary Carr has been listening! He announced that he will be spending $2 Billion dollars over the next 5 years for Infrastructure and Transportation. He previously announced he would spend $1.2 Billion on the same programs over 10 years! Where the additional funding is coming from is unknown at this time, but I welcome it nevertheless! So long as he upgrades our roads and sewers first. Mr Carr also announced that he too is now worried about Climate Change and he will be doing things to combat it! I have been stating that exact same subject for the past 9 months and it was quoted in many media articles that I was worried about how we as a Town are needing to adapt to Global Climate Change. Finally, at least our Regional Chair is listening and hopefully will follow through with action! Burton says nothing about Climate Change and getting ready for it, he does talk about "Core Values" which is laughable as he has nothing of the sort!

$300 Million to be invested in Mississauga via our Federal Government with Pratt and Whitney Aerospace and the addition of 1500 new jobs! Too bad our Oakville Mayor Burton could not get some Federal Investments here in our Town! But wait...Burton has been Publically bashing Stephen Harper and every Conservative MP for years! Unlike former Mayor Hazel who remained Non-Partisan and is again reaping the benefits for her city! I said for almost 9 months that I would always be Non-Partisan as Mayor because it is good for business! It's the right thing to do!

In Burton's Inaugural speech of December 1st, 2014 he stated that we need not worry about our Hydro bills or our Property Tax bills going UP again due to the Municipal Funding portion of the Brand New Hospital next year. (Sounds like he is reading what I write here, that's Good!)  In fact, he categorically stated that our taxes will not be going up at all due the $90/$175 Million contribution from Oakville. He minced words on what he called Oakville Hydro Electricity Distribution Inc. not raising our Hydro rates. You can be sure that he will find a way through the Debt Retirement Charge or Regulatory Charge to raise our rates, but and then state afterwards, well it's not through the "Distribution Inc." portion! The New Hospital funding is being paid through Oakville Hydro's PROFITS, well the last time I checked Hydro profits come from US as Ratepayers. Unless Burton is planning on selling off more Hydro assets or forcing other Municipalities to create additional profits for our citizen owned (Hydro) Corporation, such as he did in Bala Ontario, where he as a Hydro Board Member was pushing for investment in Swift River Energy Ltd. project to Develop an Industrial Hydro-Electric Generating Station in the middle of The Bala Falls Cultural Heritage Landscape. (Which the citizens of Bala where totally against just like Oakville citizens were against The Merton Lands Development.) It is truly amazing that Burton claims to be an Environmentalist but he has no problem developing OTHER people's land for Profit for Oakville Hydro!

Last Friday, (November 28th, 2014) My youngest son and I went to City Hall in neighbouring Mississauga. After our brief meeting in the now ex-Mayor`s Office, I noticed three Mississauga Transit buses travelling and also stopping along routes that we were walking on the sidewalks through The City Centre. I immediately observed with the two stopped buses that they were both COMPLETELY FULL, Standing room only!! After we went to the parking garage and drove back home to Oakville, I saw three Oakville Transit Buses driving and stopping along routes on Postmaster Road, Trafalgar Road, and Upper Middle Road, All Three were COMPLETELY EMPTY!! Mississauga Transit has Stations with Heated Floors, Vending Machines, and LED terminals giving displays on timelines for bus routes. They also have DEDICATED LANES for their buses to avoid all the traffic mess and congestion that is part of the daily commutes for car drivers. Oakville loses $18 Million of OUR MONEY every 12 months to Oakville Transit, Need I say More??! Remember how Burton kept calling me The Developer Friendly Mayor Candidate? Does he call Mayor Hazel McCallion The Developer Friendly Mayor for the past 36 years? She is the most Beloved Developer Friendly Mayor then by hundreds of thousands of Mississauga Citizens. She calls herself the People`s Mayor and it definitely shows! She retired at 93 years of age and has more energy than most 40 year old people! She loved her job as Mayor and treated her time spent as an honour not as an Entitlement! Her successor has big shoes to fill as Hurricane Hazel will surely be missed by many!

Rob Burton left nothing and I mean nothing to chance in the most recent Election, (2014) and in the 2010 Election as well. His everlasting lust for ultimate Power and absolute control over everything and everyone he comes into contact with, did not abate itself in the last two Elections. I know this to be completely evident and true through the 8 months that I was actively campaigning against him. He spared no effort to subvert and manipulate every aspect of any part of the Election process to ensure his victory. (More specific details to follow.) His close friend and confidant John Oliver told me to my face, that "Rob was only suppose to be a ONE TERM MAYOR!" Then he confidently informed me that running against Burton would at the very least ensure that my name, "Gets out there!" In my humble opinion, Burton has no real interest in helping out everyday citizens of Oakville in any real way. He is simply keeping his elite corps of followers happy and enriched with Town resources of all kinds. His Micro-Managerial style of Politics undermines Democracy and freedom of expression for anyone who happens to disagree with anything he states or how he believes people should conduct themselves. Rob Burton labels people all the time. He even labelled his now ex-ward 1 Councillor Alan Johnston as the Engineer Scotsman. Rob Burton labelled me as the New Conservative, Developer-Friendly Mayoral Candidate. He even labels himself as The Liberal Party Mayor and publically supports every MP and MPP that is active within that Party either Federally or Provincially. While I have absolutely nothing against The Liberal Party or any of it's members I do have a big problem with our Mayor constantly supporting their members with his words, actions and our tax dollars. Municipal Mayors are SUPPOSE to be Non-Partisan at all times! It is part of the AMO and Code of Conduct rules. There are many members of the Liberal, Conservative, NDP and even the Green Party who are dedicated, hard working Politicians that make a positive difference in many citizens lives. Rob Burton does not need to shout from the rooftops at every given opportunity on behalf of The Liberal Party in public. What Burton does and says in his private life is his right to do, but not always in public life and especially as Mayor of Oakville. Burton uses the same excuse time and time again that the previous Mayor "did it also." (Citing that Ann Mulvale gave tax dollars to Political Parties and that she spend huge amounts of tax dollars on luxury items for her office, both issues that Burton was caught doing himself.) That kind of excuse is an insult to Oakvillians intelligence. When I was invited to speak at Churchill House in Downtown Oakville, a beautiful senior said to me in front of all that had gathered on that day, that, "He was very rude to us when he came to speak to us!!" I was shocked to hear this and she repeated the same sentence with even more conviction after I asked her, "Rob Burton did what??!" Even the Oakville Beaver Newspaper stated that Burton needs to hear that his "business-like" manner needs to stop. Oakville residents deserve to have a Mayor that respects ALL of it's citizens, not just a chosen few. Much much more to follow....

Is your current Oakville Hydro Bill too high? Well, after Burton hands over that $90 Million cheque in 2015 for our new Hospital your Hydro Bill will be going through the roof! If you will not be able to pay then you will be cut off or you will have to live in the dark for 20 hours a day! Remember that $90 Million will balloon to $175 Million with the added 5% Interest costs and we will be stuck with this huge debt for the next 30 years! Yes, we need a brand new Hospital but Burton sold us out by not negotiating with The Provincial Government to fund most if not all of this new Facility.

Did you lose Power today/tonight? (November 24& 25th, 2014) Due to the very high winds? Remember, If I was Mayor, your Power lines would not break because they would be underground, which Burton says it's too expensive to do! (Keeping in mind he spent $250,000 on his Office!)

It was just lovely driving on Third Line today and seeing tons of recycling garbage on both sides of Town owned boulevard land! Plastic bottles and newspapers etc, all across our lands for all to see! Welcome to Burton's Oakville of trash lined streets!

Just remember as you are trying to drive through our Major Roads today/tonight as we are getting another blast of winter snow today, (another 6+cm) that I would have already turned on hours ago our heated roads and you would be driving on dry, clear roads BEFORE any accumulation of snow occurred! I had the misfortune to drive during today's snow storm, (November 19th, 2014) and it was at a snails pace and there were fender benders everywhere! When Burton finally gets around to salting our roads and polluting our waterways with that salt my heated roads would require no salt.

Mayor Rob Burton should thank whatever he believes in, (If anything) that he is NOT the Mayor of Buffalo today as they are now TRYING to dig out of 6 FEET of snow that got dumped onto their city in the past few days! They were at one point receiving over 5 inches of snow an hour. Six people DIED during this historic record breaking snowstorm, the worse that has hit that city in over 40 years! Oakville is only 1 1/2 hours drive away from Buffalo, if this were to hit us here in Oakville we would be in very serious trouble as Burton has not been proactive at all to deal with anything near this kind of event. This is another signal to us to be proactive and GET THINGS DONE NOW! Not years from now!

Today, (November 18th, 2014) is a very windy day and all over my neighbourhood there are recycling materials blowing all over our streets, everywhere, Polluting our lands! I have asked Regional Chair Gary Carr and our Environmentalist Mayor Burton to put lids on our Recycling bins and they keep saying, "NO!" It's too expensive to put lids on our blue boxes, and Oakvillians have to compact their recycling materials in the blue boxes so it does not blow out and about our Town! Well, that is NOT happening and our lands are being Polluted! Put Lids on our Blue boxes Now! Does Burton and Carr care? Perhaps not!

Early Winter has arrived in Oakville! We have been hit with as much as 6 cm of early snow on this day, (November 17th, 2014) and what has Mayor Burton done to prepare our Town for another year of bitter cold and snow...? NOTHING! Our Major Roads and most side streets are still suffering from LAST YEARS blast of winter! Upper Middle Road, Lakeshore Road, and Trafalgar Road were still full of pot-holes and expansion/contraction ruts from LAST YEAR, and now with another bad winter, I hate to think what condition they will be in next Spring 2015!! Our Property Taxes will go UP again next year and what does that increase pay for?? Municipal Government is suppose to take care of Infrastructure First!

Here we go again...Calgary is hit with bitter Cold temperatures and massive amounts of snow (30+cm) in a Pre-Winter blast thanks to a record breaking Typhoon that actually blasted the Arctic and then actually changed the Jet Stream! Their infrastructure was hit yet again with this bad weather.

The Canadian Maritimes was hit with another fierce wind related power outages that saw 30,000 customers without power for four days! I want to bury our Power Lines in Oakville, Rob Burton says it is too expensive, yet he is O.K. with spending $2.7 Billion on our new Hospital and another $1.5 Billion on an additional Health Centre beside the new Hospital. (New Hospital needed just making the point that Burton has no problem spending our money on HIS initiatives) It has been proven in Europe that the cost is not the 10 times more cost but only 4.5 times more cost than above ground hydro. It can be done. It will save huge amounts of money in the long run and more importantly save LIVES due to power outages. Does Burton care about saving Oakville lives?

Here we go...Vancouver has had 130 mm of rain in the past two days and flooding in North Vancouver is everywhere, basements and homes flooded and residential streets turned into rivers! In Florence, Italy also massive rain and floods! OAKVILLE IS NEXT? I hope I am incorrect, but Mayor Rob Burton is ignoring this issue. I want to be proactive and get our infrastructure upgraded now!

Only days after the Election it was announced that the Police Budget will be going up by 3.6 percent! This is fully supported by Mayor Rob Burton. More taxes on to us next year, I am sure much more to come!

Well, I tried my best, however, it would seem that the very small overall turnout of voters (Only 33% in comparison to 40% in 2010) was the first big problem, then Rob Burton was able to keep 67% of the voters at home without voting with his front page ad basically stating, everything's fine folks, no need to bother voting, to his self endoresment and HIS Council, who all got re-elected except one, as he wanted and predicted in advance.

Despite the fact that I received just over 15,000 views on this website, answered well over 1000 e-mails, hundreds of telephone calls, and support from constituents from the street and even support from outside of Oakville,  I was able to only receive just under 5% of the vote. Very very disappointing.

What is not disappointing is that my very good friend John McLaughlin received 9947 votes against Rob Burton.

When Rob Burton initiates his new Land Transfer tax, raises your property taxes again, keeps the current transit buses running every 30-45 minutes, lets more businesses fail in our Downtown core and harbours, doesn't pave our streets, keeps raising our non tax payer supported debt, raising our debt ceiling, sends more of our cash to the Liberal Party, spends more of our cash on his luxury offices, keeps on cooking the financial books for The Town, allows Climate Change to flood your basement again and again, does nothing to keep more power outages to occur, keeps Flouride in our drinking water, allows more Monster Homes to be built in Wards 1 and 2, Explosive Developer Growth in Wards 5 and 6, uses his Municipal Office to obtain a 5 year Provincial appointment, and keeps on breaking the rules that HE made via the Integrity Commissioner, then we will see what the 67% of non-voters have to say.

I received zero donations toward my Campaign, so now I have $9000 of borrowed money to pay off, and Rob Burton remains a Multi-Millionaire with an Office of power to change lives for the worse.

I will keep this website up for awhile to support anyone who needs help with our Town, but I will be producing a new website in the near future. Please let me know here if I can be of any assistance as time goes on as I am now very concerned for the future of our Town with another 4 years of Rob Burton and his follower Council.

Today we met with a wonderful boy named Liam and his loving parents and his beautiful younger sister. Liam is 4 years old and he has Cancer. His Birthday is today and he really wants to become a Firefighter when he grows up. (God Willing.) He has a very rare form of Cancer called Neuroblastoma. Children with this form of Cancer usually relapse 50% of the time. He will not be able to go Trick or Treating on Halloween as he will be in the Hospital getting his 4th round of Chemo on that day. So his parents arranged to have Oakville Parents bring their children in their Costumes to meet with them at Oakville Town Square on Lakeshore Blvd in Downtown Oakville at 11 a.m. today. There was a Facebook invitation we received as well. Liam was suppose to start Kindergarten at my youngest son's school (W.H. Morden P.S.) this past September but he had to stay home and in the Hospital. We met and Marched on Lakeshore Blvd and ended up at the local Firestation and met all the Firemen and had turns sitting in the various trucks. Liam had huge smiles on him! (See all the pictures I took in the Photo Gallery) It was a wonderful way to spend the morning, and I should have been Campaigning but this was way more important!

Only Allowed Three minutes to say all this, but got it all read! Three minutes to talk about 8 years of Neglect, Misuse of Funds, Code of Conduct Abuse, and Massive Debts!

Name: Mark McDonald Comment: Hi Gordon, I live in Burlington and therefore can't vote for you, but I did catch the candidates' debate on CogecoTV last night and really liked how you came off. You seem like a sensible, practical man and I wish you the best of luck on Monday. Just wanted to show my support. Mark

Miami is Sinking, Is Oakville Next?

As of today’s date, a CBC reporter was in Miami, Florida walking in ankle deep water. It appeared that he was walking on a shallow beach. However, this new beach is supposed to be a bone dry street. The Atlantic Ocean had risen enough to take over a one block area of that great city. This is not a story from year 2050. This is a story that is factual today. When will it be Oakville’s turn?

During my election campaign for Mayor, I have been stressing the urgent need to be proactive and prepare our beautiful town for the inevitable extreme weather caused by global climate change. I am the only candidate for Mayor that has done the research and has the 27 years construction experience and the personal passion to get the job done now. My concern may seem trivial at the present time, but the science will unfortunately prove me correct. We may be able to slow down global warming and climate change, but we cannot stop it. We must adapt our town to withstand Mother Nature’s newest forces.

Critics may state that it is too expensive to make the necessary changes that are required. I submit in rebuttal that it will be three to five times as much to repair the damage done once we have been subjected to prolonged severe weather. Is it not more prudent to retrofit our infrastructure now rather than just a wait and see attitude? A prime example is another beautiful city called Calgary that has suffered two back to back major floods and a severe snow storm during the summer months.

Even my environmentalist opponent, Rob Burton, has publically stated on COGECO’s Town TV that it would be too costly to even install our hydro underground. It is true that it would not be inexpensive to make the necessary changes; however, it does not have to be overtly costly if done correctly the first time. Also, our negotiating skills with the necessary Contractors, without sacrificing quality, will be put to the test. But I am confident that with the right people working in a combined and concerted effort, the job will get done in a timely and cost efficient manner. I also submit that, while we are preparing our town against global climate change, we can upgrade and repair the existing infrastructure at the same time.

I am campaigning for change, controlled balanced change. If we ignore all these signs of new extreme weather patterns, we have only ourselves to blame for their outcome. We are being forewarned that we can do something about it now if the political will and commitment is in place. For the past 8 months, I have travelled all around Oakville taking pictures of damaged and neglected infrastructure that needs improvements and repair immediately. After October 27, let’s get it done!

Gordon Brennan
Mayoral Candidate

For the Record...I have the absolute admiration and respect for all our men and women on our local Fire and Police services. They put their lives on the line everyday of the week, especially when they receive calls in advance. I would never do anything as Mayor of Oakville to sacrifice any of their work. I would always maintain their equipment and stations with the latest technologies that money and experts can purchase. My Father was a Military man himself and he always instilled in me the sense of Loyalty that we should have towards Professionals who maintain our safety! Period.

  • I was a licensed real estate agent in the New Home industry for 27 years.

  • I understand how to build roads, sewers, bridges and other services necessary for a livable Oakville.

  • We need green space, but we also need services that can withstand climate change.

  • My Excellent negotiating skills will get the best deals from developers and contractors to save you money.

  • I will get things done fast for you!

  • I will negotiate not litigate

  • I will be available for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • I will have an open door policy

  • I am already getting calls and 100’s of emails daily and I am giving service already!

  • I will get our transit buses to pick you up every 1-5 minutes! No more 30 minute pickup.

  • If you want no development, I will get that for you

  • Need a bridge built? I will get it done.

  • Need your roads repaved? I will get it done. Fast!

  • Basement flooded? I won’t just fix your basement. I will fix the sewers so it doesn’t happen again.

  • If you want detached homes only, I will get that for you

  • Need apartment or condo buildings shorter?  I will get it done.

  • No more $100K studies!

  • No more OMB fights!

  • No more years long delays!

  • I will eliminate waste and will use that money to rebuild your downtown fast!

  • My opponent has no credibility with Builders.  I do!

  • I will sit with them and get what you need.

  • I will totally get my hands dirty for you

  • I will work in the fields and get our contractors to build our infrastructure on time and on budget!

  • Stressed out people who gaze at live trees have a significant drop in heart rate and feel calmer.

  • Yes I will preserve green space but you also need your services to be prepared to withstand climate change!

  • Mr. Burton is not fixing your roads. I will.

  • Mr. Burton is repainting lines on broken roads. Why?

  • I love trees. We need them, but we also need to get other issues done!

  • Mr. Burton doesn’t care about your infrastructure. I do.

  • I will upgrade and repair the infrastructure without going over budget.

  • I will fix your Ward and keep it fixed all year long.

  • We have to adapt to Mother Nature now.

  • It won’t matter which tree is in your fields if your basement is flooded.

  • Another ice storm, another Burlington flood. If we are not proactive and prepared in advance, it’s game over.

  • I was a full time licensed Real Estate Agent for 27 years and I am not the newest pro-developer Conservative Party candidate. My party is and always will be the Oakville Inc. Party.

  • Being a homeowner in Ward 4, I must say that I have always been a little bit jealous of the idyllic location you enjoy that encompasses beautiful views of Lake Ontario and your harbours.

  • My father was the captain of a Motor Torpedo boat in World War II and for many years he instilled in me a love and fascination for life and activities on the water.

  • My youngest son, who is a professional singer, has been invited to sing at your beautiful Walton Memorial United Church dozens of times for recitals in front of hundreds of its congregation.

  • I want to sincerely congratulate both the Bronte Village Residents Associations, the Association of Oakville Harbours Stakeholders, and of course the Historic Bronte Harbour Yacht Club for their dedicated hard work on behalf of Bronte and Ward 1 for many years.

  • Because of your tireless work with the Town of Oakville, you have kept my opponent to remain on track with your concerns and issues. Because of your efforts alone, you have averted a paid/metered parking initiative that my opponent wanted to fleece dollars away from your businesses. You kept the Canada Day Fireworks alive when my opponent pulled the funding for it.

  • You came to the aid of your neighbours, Kerr Village business owners, when their assessments skyrocketed and their tax bills increased by $12,000 a year. You took a leading role in finding solutions to the years and years of neglect and postponements, by my opponent, to upgrade and bring the Metro Marine Building to current safety standards. Now the Oakville taxpayers will have to foot a bill for over $3 million. Ironically, the Marine Building’s problems only came to light because of an August storm. This is so ironic because my opponent is an environmentalist.

  • You once again proved to be advocates and leaders in defending against a 25% premium on mooring rates levied on sail boat owners who do not store their boats with the Town. Then, to make matters worse, you had to fight against a 5% surcharge on mooring applicants if their application and deposit are not received by January 14th.

  • For these items and so much more, I applaud your efforts.  Well done!

  • (However) your largest issue was the sedimentation and dredging saga and you advocated for Developers to help pay the costs associated, and my opponent said that there was no legal basis. You discovered that his statement was completely false! The reason my opponent made this outrageous statement was because he has NO credibility with any Developers. His MO is to constantly threaten with “shutting their businesses down”. He cannot negotiate with them because of his continuous dictatorial methods. This must stop!

  • My way of doing business is to negotiate not litigate. As your next Mayor, I would be a diplomat first and afterwards a warrior. I guarantee you that I will get things done! I have the added inside benefit of knowing how Developers think, how they actually do business, what makes them happy, and what makes them angry. I will be able to actually work with them on the same terms they work normally. I will represent your interests, but I will actually be able to obtain your interests fast and even with an all parties contribution.

  • As your new Mayor, I will be able to negotiate a final agreement that benefits all concerned with the Bronte Village Mall. It should not take so many years to finalize the plans and it should not take 20 years to build! There will be new issues to solve well before two decades have passed.

  • I will not suck the life out of your unique and very special downtown Bronte as my opponent has already done with the downtown core of Oakville.

  • I will bring you new and dynamic technologies from around the world that will permanently solve your issues surrounding sediment and dredging.
